EXRON EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: COOKIE MONSTA AND FUNTCASE

Cookie Monsta and Funtcase are a one of a kind duo when they combine their talents, playing hard dubstep for the headbangers and having a great time while doing so. As individuals their music appeals to thousands, but together they offer something extra special that makes the crowds go wild. The two recently played during Electric Zoo and we had the opportunity to chat with them regarding how their B2Bs first started and the future of their individual projects. Exron Music: Are you all excited to perform together here at Electric Zoo this weekend?

Cookie Monsta: Yes!!!!!

Funtcase: Yes! It’s been three years I’m excited. The last time I was here was 2016. It’s exciting because we haven’t played b2b together in awhile so we’ve got a lot of new music that hasn’t been heard.

Cookie Monsta: It’s gonna be wild, there’s gonna be deaths everywhere. We are literally gonna kill everyone, with a smile on our faces.

Exron Music:What’s the best part about going b2b? Can you tell us a little bit about how you guys first start collaborating together?

Cookie Monsta: Through Circus Records!

Funtcase: We got booked once out of the blue for a show back to back together. It was actually Tomorrowland. We were performing b2b at Tomorrowland and one of the videos of us just kind of went semi-viral in our scene. After that everyone was like “we need this” and that’s all it takes.

Exron Music: What was the deciding factor for you guys to both to start producing dubstep?

Cookie Monsta: It’s loud and bass-y. It’s awesome. You can make the most ridiculous sounding noises and travel the world for it.

Funtcase: Yeah, I like the energy but I like making stupid noises. That’s pretty much the shortest version of it.

Exron Music: Being a touring artist can take a toll on mental health, what methods do you both use to ensure you are putting your mental health and yourself first?

Cookie Monsta: Just take some time out and drinking lots does not help whatsoever.

Funtcase: I stay sober and I try to do things for me. I’m a gamer and I have a gaming laptop so I’ll play in the hotel rooms and whatever. That’s my escape from what I’m doing.

Exron Music: Funtcase, earlier this summer you announced your DPMO tour, what are you looking forward to with this fall tour?

Funtcase: Just to see how people are going to take to the new guys. We have a lot of new DPMO artists and a lot of new DPMO music. We’re ready to see how people react to all the new talent that we have lined up. I’m so stoked.

Exron Music: Cookie Monsta, you’ve been on a bit of hiatus what are you hoping to accomplish for the rest of the year?

Cookie Monsta: To finally release loads of music and smash the shit out of this place. I love stateside and it’s where my family is so it’s good to be back.

Exron Music: Do you all have any upcoming projects that you are collaborating on that you can share with us?

Funtcase: I’ve got DPMO 3 coming up and I’ve also got something big coming, I can’t tell you what it is yet but it’s being announced sometime next month. It’s gonna be something special.

Cookie Monsta: Just making lots of music, I’ve got loads of ideas and I’m ready to turn it into music.
