The XX Returns to Studio for Third Album After a 7-Year Break

Romy, from The XX, HAS GONE on the show ‘Beyond The Vallet’ to share her perspective as an individual artist, as well as a member of a band.

The XX is an English indie rock band from Wandsworth, London. The band members comprise Romy Madley Croft (vocals, lead guitar), Oliver Sim (vocals, bass, guitar), and Jamie Smith (drums, keyboards, synthesizer, MPC sampler).

The talented artist explains on ‘Beyond The Wall’, with NME Magazine, how healthy it is that she, Oliver, and Jamie have all tried new things and learned a lot from the different types of projects they have tried over the years. Romy continues explaining how their time apart as a group offers them the perspective and experience to ask each other as individual artists how the knowledge they have gained can better their growth as a group.

It is still pretty early on, but Romy drops the mic on how the band has already started to make new music! The lead guitarist thinks that fans will still be able to grasp the typical sound of XX, but explains how exciting it is for the band to “be starting again” and to “move it on” to keep their sound feeling fresh. Fans respond to the news with excitement, sharing comments such as “Wow it is 2014”, and “2024 is off to a great start”.

The last album to be released by The XX  is their 2017 album ‘I See You’. Since then, fans have wondered if the group was still going to make music together given that each of the artists take on their direction as individual artists.

The XX

Each artist has relentlessly supported each other through their adventures as artists, celebrating each other releasing music, creating their own Apple radio shows, going on boiler rooms, and even getting Grammy nominated! The trio has even had the privilege of helping each other out on certain projects.

For now, fans can look forward to more from the XX in the coming months.

Yoooo, the homies call me Marz. I am a multidimensional Piscean Latina fairy from Miami-Dade County (no, not Florida). Electronic music has allowed me to appreciate the profound beauty that can be found in finding peace within the chaos. Artists such as Rezz, Skrillex, John Summit, Michael Bibi, and Amtrac blend the two seamlessly, creating a harmonious balance that resonates with me whenever I am on the dancefloor. When I am writing about electronic music, I feel this same balance of peace and chaos moving through me - starting in my hips, filling my heart, and radiating out from my soul. The power of music has brought me to this exact moment, and I only desire that you feel the warmth of the sun through my words.
