Icona Pop Drops Second Album ‘CLUB ROMANTECH’ a Decade After Their First LP

ten years since their debut album, Icona Pop takes us into their world at ‘Club Romantech’

After a decade and some multiplatinum records later, the wait is over as Swedish duo Icona Pop released their second full-length album, ‘CLUB ROMANTECH,’ via Ultra Records/Iconic Sound Recordings.

Icona Pop’s ‘CLUB ROMANTECH’ is the duo’s second full-length album since their debut ‘This Is… Icona Pop’ back in 2013. The inception of ‘CLUB ROMANTECH’ began in 2020 during the lockdown of the global pandemic. The duo, comprised of Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo, moved home to Stockholm from Los Angeles, where the pair re-engaged with their roots: the dance floor.

The 15-track album, ‘CLUB ROMANTECH,’ takes the influence of Icona Pop’s decade-long career. After headlining Lollapalooza Stockholm, taking over Miami Music Week, and all of the after-hours underground DJ sets, Icona Pop’s professional experience and depth of knowledge of the dancefloor can be seen throughout the album. Through anthemic choruses layered over bold club tracks, the duo lets us know what tears-in-the-club means to them.

Icona Pop takes us to all corners of ‘CLUB ROMANTECH.’ The duo uses alluring vocals on tracks like “Need You” and “Fall In Love,” they create a nostalgic dance-melancholia on “Stockholm At Night” and speed things up with the infectious “Faster.” ‘CLUB ROMANTECH’ showcases a masterclass in dance pop and captivating club tracks. Furthermore, the pair enlisted dance royalty collaborators for the album such as Ultra Naté, Galantis, Joel Corry, Sofi Tukker, and more.

These powerhouse collaborations are on ‘CLUB ROMANTECH’ tracks like the energetic “Shit We Do For Love” with Yaeger and the mesmeric “Desire” with Joel Curry and Rain Radio. Previously released songs “You’re Free” with Ultra Naté, “Off Of My Mind” with VIZE, and “SPA” with Sofi Tukker are included on the album as well.

Since Icona Pop’s debut album in 2013, the duo has gained critical acclaim and the chance to canvas the globe. They have supported artists like One Direction and Katy Perry and have played at some of the biggest festivals like Ultra and Tomorrowland. After ten years and a headlining career, the duo is finally ready to let us into ‘CLUB ROMANTECH.’
