DJ Snake Reveals Groovy Music Video for Funky New Single “Westside Story”

DJ Snake and WE ARE FROM LA are joining forces to create a music video for the producer’s fun single, “Westside Story.”

Released on Interscope, “Westside Story” is a 70s-influenced track with distorted vocals and a series of electric synths. DJ Snake is bringing attention to the importance of building relationships and allowing people to connect organically as he draws inspiration from Funk and its culture.

The video for “Westside Story” emulates the same happiness that the Grammy-winning team, WE ARE FROM LA, brought for Pharell’s “Happy.” The producer said, “I want my music to connect people from all over the world. To unite very different human beings through it.”

“My music is about blending genres, blending cultures, so the idea we came up with for the music video with WE ARE FROM LA was to blend people somehow!” he continued. The music video does just that – highlighting the beauty of letting people be themselves, especially in connection with music.

Packed with dancing and genuine joy, it follows diverse groups of people coming together through different forms of art. DJ Snake is featured shortly throughout, controlling the camera and taking the reigns. The video for “Westside Story” ends with a full shot of everyone who participated, capturing the beauty of relationships.

Both the song and its video are fresh and youthful with modern spins on the Golden Era of Funk. WE ARE FROM LA took the concept and beautifully touched on race and gender fluidity.

DJ Snake and WE ARE FROM LA have been impacting electronic music with their creations for years. In 2023 alone, DJ Snake performed at the Super Bowl and is taking off on his global tour this summer. “Westside Story” and its video add to his fun, upbeat discography.
