Getter Believes Visceral Tour “Would Have Gone in A Completely Different Direction” if He Were Single

Dubstep DJ and producer Getter reflects on his Visceral Tour days, claiming things may have gone in a different direction if he wasn’t in a relationship.

Four years ago, Getter departed from his typical dubstep sound to embark on a more melodic offering, Visceral. In 2018, he dropped his ‘Visceral’ studio album on mau5trap and started on a tour with the same name, stopping in various cities and festivals going into 2019.

Getter’s Visceral project received backlash from fans who only wanted to hear the artist play dubstep. Then, in April 2019, the DJ reached a breaking point and decided to cancel the tour.

In his statement at the time, he said, “Imagine working toward something, putting in all your effort, time, and money into something that you feel could FINALLY separate you from the rest and show you DO have purpose. All to just get yelled at, booed and have shit thrown at you because it’s not the cookie-cutter bullshit they are used to. Criticism is healthy. My friends and I frequently critique each other’s work and it helps the final product. However, the constant hate and the disgusting attitudes I’m faced with are destroying me.”

After the Visceral tour was canceled, Getter took a step back from music for a while, recently expressing his distaste for the industry. Not to mention, he recently called out Excision for ripping off other artists. However, he’s since gone back to touring as Getter with his next show scheduled for December 30th in Tampa.

On his recent ventures, the artist tweeted, “forgot how insanely happy touring with my best friends makes me. for the first time in YEARS i spent 2 months away from home, living out my suitcase, shows everyday, exhausted, and sick with barely any time off, and its the happiest i been in so long. pandemic can eat my a**”

He followed up by reflecting on his Visceral tour days, “exactly. my ex made me hate touring, when i really loved it. come to think of it, i truly believe if i was single during Visceral & its tour, it would have gone a completely different direction.”

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
