ZHU, Dr. Fresch, LUCATI, and Justin Jay All Attended this University

LUCATI has taken to social media to reveal that he and fellow DJs ZHU, Dr. Fresch, and Justin Jay attended the same university.

LUCATI, Dr. Fresch, ZHU, and Justin Jay have been open about their educational careers in the past and described the impact it has had on their musical journeys. LUCATI has posted this random fun fact about all of them attending the same University on X (previously Twitter.) The DJs had all attended the University of Southern California at the same time.

Located in Los Angeles, the USC Thornton School of Music has been ranked in the top 10 music programs in the United States. The house producer had also revealed that they were all in the same graduating year. “Something about that year made a lot of DJs…Probably HARD at the Shrine,” LUCATI jokes. 

The University of Southern California profoundly impacted the artists, who all studied music in Los Angeles. In an interview with the Recording Academy, Justin Jay shared that he had joined the Dirtybird label during his first week at USC in 2011. The same year, ZHU graduated as a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. 

Dr. Fresch graduated from the university and its Sigma Chi fraternity two years later in 2013. Despite the commonality, the artists have yet to work together. 

The Thornton School of Music welcomes the electronic dance music scene, especially with all of the music festivals that happen within proximity. The college even has House & Techno at USC, an organization dedicated to supporting aspiring DJs. 

Since attending USC, LUCATI has gone on to perform at iconic festivals like EDC Las Vegas, HARD Summer, and Countdown. He has earned support from names like Claude VonStroke, Green Velvet, and more with his minimal tech house. The producer is continuing to hone in on refreshing dance music and is steadily releasing new tracks.
