12th Planet Selected by Spotify for ‘Dubstep Don’ Playlist Cover Following Sexual Assault Allegations

Ahead of his Electric Forest performance, long-time dubstep producer 12th Planet shares news that his photo has been selected as the cover for Spotify’s ‘Dubstep Don’ playlist.

12th Planet has been a household name in the dubstep scene since its US inception. The LA-based artist has headlined countless festivals, embarked on world tours, and released dozens of singles, collabs, and EPs. Heading Disciple: Round Table for four years before announcing his departure from the position in late 2021 for an unknown, 12th Planet keeps a relatively low profile in the dance music drama.

However, this changed in late November of last year when he was publicly accused by EDM photographer Grim of sexual assault. According to the photographer, 12th Planet assaulted her some years ago while she worked as his photographer in Shanghai. The photographer did not offer much as to why she chose to speak up four years later, aside from the “festering anxiety” she’s been harboring. 

In the same statement, she also accused Gammer of sexual assault and Trampa of rape. Both Gammer and 12th Planet have addressed the allegations, however, Trampa has yet to break his silence. 

Although 12th Planet suffered a spell of doubt from fans and promoters in the new year, he’s somewhat reestablished his position in the dance music and dubstep scenes. He recently played Forbidden Kingdom, EDC Las Vegas, and Wobbleland, to name a few of the recent gigs he’s secured.

12th Planet also earned the cover photo spot for Spotify’s ‘Dubstep Don’ playlist, news that he was thrilled enough to share with his social media followers. The artist captioned the Instagram photo with a thank you shout-out to Spotify, followed by an announcement for new music incoming.

Currently preparing for his controversial Electric Forest performance, the artist has shared excitement for his return. Coveted festival slots coupled with Spotify’s huge honor single what appears to be 12th Planet’s official return to the music scene.
