Lucii Shares Song About Wanting a Girlfriend After “Shitty Breakup” with Rezz

Lucii posted a TikTok alluding to her previous relationship while announcing a new song.

Once EDM’s favorite couple, Lucii and Rezz silently split up about a year ago. Both artists initially stayed relatively quiet about the breakup, however, fans noticed something was wrong when the two stopped sharing those adorable photos together. In fact, fans noticed even quicker that both artists had removed all photos they had together on social media.

Around the same time, Lucii announced she was working on an album, often a clear indicator of a breakup in the electronic music scene. Since the breakup, both Lucii and Rezz have been shining in their own ways. Rezz is currently on her Spiral Tour, hitting major cities across the globe. She just recently announced two Red Rocks shows to take place on Halloween weekend.

On the other hand, Lucii has come off of the final leg of her Metamorphosis tour on a high note. She recently played EDC Mexico and has plans to play upcoming festivals such as Moon Walk, Beyond Wonderland, and Bonnaroo

Lucii recently shared plans via Tik Tok to release a song about wanting a girlfriend for a “hand to hold” and at the same time, not wanting a girlfriend because “they’re a lot of work.” She prefaces the video by saying, “about a year ago I went through a really shitty breakup.” Lucii doesn’t give any further details, but the timeline she offered matches up with her breakup with Rezz.

Based on the sneak preview of Lucii’s new track, it sounds like she might be ready for another relationship. In February she was frequently sharing photos with a new girlfriend, but it’s unclear whether the two are still together.

Either way, we love to watch Lucii pave the way for women in dance music. As a singer, songwriter, producer, and DJ, she’s absolutely killing the game and we’re eager for the release of her new track.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
