Monstercat’s addition of the  Silk brand integrates Progressive House and Downtempo.

We all know that Monstercat has been on the rise ever since it was founded in 2011 by by Mike Darlington and Ari Paunonen. This Vancouver based record label is notorious for being innovative as their label is founded to serve the community as a platform and marketing tool for fans to discover new music and for artists to get their music out there. As the audience and demand for new and diverse music grow, so do the endless amount of creative possibilities- which lead to the great new territory of Silk music, as a sub label of Monstercat.

The Monstercat soundscape have stretched across all realms of electronic music. Listeners are grouped according to their preferred style of music and how they like to listen- in the comfort of their own home or out at a show. This concept actually lead to the creation of sub labels in Monstercat.

A few years ago, two sub labels were created, Instinct which features a more melodic and vocal infused songs, with a more pop- electro twist and Uncaged which features more of a hard-hitting, heavy- drop infused tracks.

Just a few days ago, Monstercat officially announced its third brand of sub labels. Joining alongside Instinct and Uncaged will be Silk, and as the name may suggest, it will feature music of the callout genres, including progressive house and downtempo.

Monstercat Silk introduced its brand with first release from Shingo Nakamura, a Tokyo-based progressive house guru with his highly-anticipated single, “Glow”, which acts as a leadoff for his forthcoming album that will be released on Monstercat Silk in June 2021.

Silk music has been pioneered to capture ‘Emotion Into Sound’, and the aesthetics that Silk music carries are hues of progressive house, trance, chillstep, indie dance, and anything in a similar realm that will alleviate minds and appeal to sensitive souls.
