Hulaween Unveils Spirit Lake Art Programming for First-Time Ever Ahead of 10th Anniversary
Hulaween Returns to Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida for its 10th anniversary.
Suwannee Hulaween is set to mark its ten-year milestone from Thursday, October 26 to Sunday, October 29, 2023. The festival will make its way back to the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida. Renowned for its status as one of the few major music festivals operating independently and consistently selling out the last five editions, Hulaween is preparing to celebrate a decade of achievement with an exceptionally thrilling and eagerly anticipated edition.
In celebration of its ten-year anniversary, Spirit Lake has unveiled an extensive lineup of art programming. This marks a significant departure from Hulaween’s traditional practice of keeping art details secret until attendees arrive on-site. Artists and collectives will be credited on festival platforms such as the app, website, and on-site signage this year. The festival’s new Creative Director is Justin Bolognino, CEO, and co-founder of META, leading a fresh approach for Spirit Lake. Bolognino has an impressive track record, collaborating with renowned artists such as Skrillex, Phish, Questlove, Porter Robinson, Tiësto, and many others. This experience and creativity make him a valuable addition to the team.
This year boasts ten new art installations, expanding the Spirit Lake experience like never before, with fresh and innovative concepts. Among the highlights, Tyler Schrader will unveil The Cosmic Portal, an interactive, double-sided wooden sculpture illuminated by 5,000 LEDs, with the other side featuring projection mapping. Essi Rhodes’ Chatterpillars installation will introduce two life-sized caterpillars, encouraging a shift in perspective. Subloominal & Voxeleyes will captivate with their Bioshroom exhibit, featuring interactive bioluminescent mushrooms.
Enthusiasts can also anticipate Daniel Shields’ UV-reactive Portal Prism, Charlie BlackCat Smith’s fiery interactive steel sculpture, The Fleeble Flobbler, Tyson Ayers’ The Sound Cave, John Grillo’s Gnome Village Minis, a distinctive Campground Stage Design by Hannah Miller and Justin Bolognino, as well as brand design and illustrations by Young & Sick.
Lastly, Hulaween has just revealed the official 2023 schedule. The exciting news is that Pretty Lights will perform a second set at The Meadow Stage, closing both Saturday and Sunday evenings.
