Tomorrowland Heading to Thailand for Decade-Long Run in 2026

In an effort to boost their economy, Thailand has announced that Tomorrowland 2026 will be hosted in Bangkok.

According to Bloomberg and local news outlets, Tomorrowland will be hosted in Thailand in 2026. It has been confirmed that the iconic festival will be heading to Bangkok and is destined to have a ten-year run at this location.

This will be the first time in EDM history that an ASEAN nation will host a world-renowned event bringing in over half a million patrons. Based on claims that the country’s economy is in a “crisis” by Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, the festival’s goal is to help guide Thailand’s economy increase. According to Bloomberg, Thailand’s average economic growth rate over the last decade has been less than two percent, whereas the standard in the area has been four percent prior.

Thavisin who stepped into position in September, has identified steps like tourist visa exemptions as “quick wins” to revive Thailand’s economy. With tourism in Thailand being recently promoted more through advertising programs, it is evident that hosting a festival like Tomorrowland will bring incremental tourist spend and attract international visitors.

In another effort to boost the economy, Thailand’s government has announced that Japan’s Sonic Summer Music Festival will come to Bangkok this August as well. This marks the event’s second-ever appearance outside of Japan since its inception in 2000.

The festival will be held at Impact Muang Thong Thani in the Nonthaburi province on August 24th and 25th, 2024. There has also been word that Thailand hopes to host other events from global entities such as Formula One Group, Formula E, and Art Basel in response to boosting the economy.

Though there has been no official statement from Tomorrowland that the festival will be hosted in Thailand, the festival’s organizers are exploring expansion to Thailand but, “there is still much to be investigated.”

My favorite thing in the whole world is music and after hearing "One" by Swedish House Mafia for the first time in 2014, I was hooked on EDM. Dance music has been a large part of who I am and will always be searching for new ways to incorporate it in my life. The pure bliss that I feel from live shows is a feeling I never want to stop chasing (iykyk). Some of my favorite artists are Flume, Rüfüs Du Sol, Mindchatter, Disclosure, Dom Dolla and Fred Again.. :)
