Fred Again.. and Kendrick Lamar Team Up for Exclusive Track Showcased at Chanel Fashion Show

Fred Again.. and Kendrick Lamar came together to create a complimentary music experience at the Chanel Spring-Summer 2024 Fashion Show.

At the Chanel Spring-Summer 2024 Fashion Show, Kendrick Lamar worked with longtime collaborator Dave Free to add a musical narrative to the show. Dave Free has been working with Kendrick Lamar since the beginning of his career when he started at the music label Top Dawg Entertainment. Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free have also worked together on the creative company pgLang.

Dave Free directed the story entitled “The Button” to go along with the musical score led by Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick reached out to Fred Again.. to also produce parts of the score for the show. You can hear some of his signature sonic creativity in the score as well.

The melodies and hints of influence from the UK garage sound showcase Fred Again..’s influence on the musical score. There is hope that this will not be the last of collaborations to come between the two artists in the future. Fred Again.. took to Instagram to express his excitement at the opportunity to work on the show.

Fred gushed about this being the first time he had ever been involved in producing something for high fashion. The snippet also included piano lines along with the smooth, soft melodies that built anticipation while also letting the fashion be the main attraction. The show also featured other big names including Naomi Campbell and Anna Mouglalis.

The Chanel Spring-Summer 2024 Haute Couture collection was curated by Chanel creative director Virginie Viard. She is the artistic director of the fashion collections at Chanel. This collaboration with Kendrick Lamar and Fred Again.. is a step towards combining the two artistic mediums in a way that feels more contemporary and innovative in a fashion world caught between tradition and always staying on top of what’s next.

The combination of music and fashion in the show exemplified the power of a full-fledged experience when combining the two. Fred Again.. has also most recently released a single remixing Baby Keem, an artist who is also a consistent collaborator with Kendrick and the pgLang brand. Fingers crossed that there is more to come with new ways to bring music to the stage in combination with multiple genres.

Hi! My name is Destine and I found a love for House and EDM through my time in the NYC dance community. My favorite thing about music is how it brings people together without having to say a word. Some of my favorite artists include Kaytranada, Kelela, Shygirl, and Uncle Waffles.
