EDM Community Criticizes John Summit for Slamming “Masked DJs” on Podcast Despite deadmau5 Remix

John Summit is being called out for saying masked DJs are “corny” days before dropping a deadmau5 remix.

The comment came in an interview with podcasters the Nelk Boys where John Summit shared inside details about his DJ life and threw a party with them. People immediately couldn’t ignore the elephant in the room that his masked DJ’s comment may have come at an off-putting time considering deadmau5 wears a helmet.

John Summit was asked by the Nelk brothers: “What do you think about masked DJs?” He replied: “I think that s**t is corny as f**k.” He then elaborated a bit more and said: “You could offer me a billion dollars, but I had to DJ for the rest of my life with a helmet on. I’d say f**k off.”

The clip was posted to John Summits Instagram and he couldn’t go without a bit of being slammed himself. One person said: “Talks s**t on masks the same week he’s dropping the mau5 remix. But we all know Joel dgaf.” Comments on YouTube further slammed him and said: “Oof. And dropping a deadmau5 remix tonight.” And “The level of disrespect when you’re literally releasing a deadmau5 remix right now lol.”

Some people did have his back and gave further explanations on his Instagram post. One person said: “He was talking about Marshmello being corny. He’s made fun of him in the past before on Twitter. He respects deadmau5. Another person stood up for the comment and said: “Deadmau5 takes his off halfway through the set he knows it’s corny too but it’s the brand.”

The conversation continued and hits were specifically taken towards Marshmello. One of the Nelk brothers said: “Marshmello has got to wake up a lot and just be like f**k, I don’t want to put this smelly a*s helmet back on.” Some people were thrown off by the comments and said that it wasn’t very EDM community-positive or PLUR thing of him to say.

In conclusion, John Summit has noted his disliking of masked DJs in the past to give him credit, and he is allowed to have an opinion. Also, as one of the commenters said, deadmau5 would easily blow it off considering his major success and OG status. Masked DJs know what they’re doing behind their brand.
