Frank Ocean Removed From Headlining Coachella 2023 Weekend 2 Due to Injury

After a controversial show from Frank Ocean during his headlining set of Coachella Weekend 1, he has officially bowed out of performing for the festival’s second weekend.

After a controversial performance during the first weekend of Coachella, Frank Ocean has officially been removed from the lineup for the festival’s second weekend. Despite drawing a massive crowd eager to see him live for the first time in nearly six years, Ocean arrived an hour late and put on what some are calling a lackluster show, leaving many fans disappointed. To make matters worse, his set was not even live-streamed, disappointing viewers at home. Prior to the cancellation, sources reported that Ocean made some last-minute changes to his production, including dismantling an ice skating rink that had been built on stage, causing significant delays.

Although Ocean did perform some of his most beloved hits, such as “Pink + White,” “White Ferrari,” “Crack Rock,” and “Novocane,” the lack of production forced the audience to watch him primarily through LED screens on a bare stage. Adding to the controversy, Ocean’s set ended abruptly due to curfew restrictions. “Guys, I’m being told it’s curfew, so that’s the end of the show,” Ocean said. “Thank you so much.” As the lights came up, fans booed and chanted, “We want Frank.” The festival was later fined by Indio, California city officials for violating the curfew.

Despite fans’ anticipation of his headlining performance at Coachella since 2020, when he was first announced as one of the main acts before the festival was canceled twice due to the pandemic, Ocean will not be performing during the second weekend. The reason for his absence is reportedly due to injury, with two fractures and a sprain in his left leg.

In regards to his performance Frank Ocean stated, “It was chaotic. There is some beauty in chaos. It isn’t what I intended to show but I did enjoy being out there and I’ll see you soon.” Taking his time slot is none other than Blink-182 and headlining will be Fred Again…, Skrillex, and Four Tet will perform during the festival’s second weekend.
