Laidback Luke Celebrates Daughter’s 10th Birthday with Story of Abandoning Ultra Set for her Birth

Laidback Luke shares the story of his daughter’s birth which happened to be on the same day as his 2014 Ultra Main stage performance.

Laidback Luke celebrates his daughter’s 10th birthday by sharing the story of him abandoning his 2014 Ultra Main Stage set for her birth. The back-fillers for his performance were the “then-upcoming group, the relatively unknown,” The Chainsmokers who took the news hours before performing. 

Laidback Luke recalls the series of events occurring around 2:30 am the night before his performance. He was attending Tiësto’s set at LIV nightclub in Miami and got a call to rush back to New York because his wife at the time was in labor. After getting to the airport in New York around 5 am, he made it back just in time for his daughter’s birth. 

At this time, Laidback Luke had 2 sons and said that having two children was already, “a whole new experience for [him].” After the birth of his first and only daughter, Laidback Luke highlights his experience being a girl dad. 

He wrote, “It is safe to say that a papa-daughter relationship is very special and that she’s my favorite daughter out of all my kids” – making a joke as she is his only daughter. He continues, “She’s energetic, creative, athletic, stubborn, hot headed and at age 10 she’s on the verge of turning into this gorgeous, charismatic young lady.”

In the post, the Dutch-Filipino DJ shares never-before-seen pictures of him and his daughter throughout the 10 years of her life, reflecting that “time has flown by but it has Blessed me with incredible memories and insights and a daughter whom I’ll love until the very end.” 

Laidback Luke has since been remarried to his current wife, Ashley van Scheppingen, who tied the knot on February 20, 2020. On October 4th, 2022 they welcomed their first child together named L.J. who is the fourth and youngest child of the renowned DJ.
