Verknipt Unveils Largest Techno Event in World History with 40,000 Attendees in Amsterdam

Dutch hard techno company Verknipt announces record-setting 2024 event at Johan Cruijff ArenA IN Amsterdam.

Hard techno giant Verknipt has announced the largest event in the genre’s history: a 40,000-capacity show titled ‘Verknipt ArenA’. The 10-hour event will be held at Amsterdam’s iconic Johan Cruijff ArenA on Saturday, July 20, 2024. While Verknipt has yet to release the lineup for the monumental event, it is sure to feature a collection of the biggest names in the hard techno scene as they usher in a new era for the genre.

Amsterdam is no stranger to large electronic dance music events, playing host to the world-renowned Amsterdam Music Festival (AMF) and the entire Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) yearly. What will make Verknipt ArenA truly unique is the unprecedented scale for this type of niche-genre event, which historically tends to draw significantly smaller crowds. As Verknipt founder and co-owner Mer Hajbarati put it, “If you would’ve suggested a hard techno stadium show three years ago, you would’ve been laughed out of the room. But look at us now.”

Since its inception in the Netherlands in 2012, Verknipt has grown its following exponentially and become a leader in the hard techno events space. With this growth, they’ve added more, larger events each year and expanded internationally with shows in Germany, Poland, Hungary, Spain, Colombia, and more. Thanks in part to the addition of the massive Verknipt ArenA to their lineup, they expect their total 2024 event attendance to increase to about 250,000 from 2023’s total of about 155,000.

Stadium events in electronic dance music are becoming more common, as exemplified by Illenium’s record-setting Trilogy shows and John Summit’s upcoming show at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. Verknipt ArenA continues this trend and blazes the trail for hard techno and other niche genres dreaming of selling out arenas. As Verknipt continues to grow in Europe and beyond, this may just be the tip of the iceberg.
