Who is the Dubstep Supergroup Masterhand?

Masterhand, the DJ trio made of Space Laces, Eptic, and Svdden Death, has made its debut at Summoning of the Eclipse Festival this weekend.

As soon as the mysterious headliner appeared on the festival’s lineup, EDM fans started asking “Who is Masterhand?” It wasn’t long before it was revealed that dubstep heavyweights Space Laces, Eptic, and Svdden Death, were behind the DJ supergroup. Given that Summoning of the Eclipse is Svdden Death’s own festival, it feels like the perfect place for these three to unleash their fury for the first time.

Space Laces, Eptic, and Svdden Death are three of the most influential names in dubstep currently. Space Laces is an OG—he’s an early contributor to dubsteps original supergroup, Destroid, who broke into the mainstream with his 2018 ‘Overdrive’ EP. Space Laces is also featured on Excision’s iconic “Throwin’ Elbows” track.

Eptic is a Belgian DJ whose 2016 ‘Overlord’ EP solidified him as one of the most innovative names in today’s dubstep. He also has a strong history with Never Say Die that goes back to his 2012 ‘Like a Boss’ EP. On the other hand, Svdden Death is the visionary behind the wildly popular Voyd project, and the host of Summoning of the Eclipse festival, which is quickly becoming one of the most popular destinations for dubstep fans in North America.

Put these three together, and you get the creative genius, Masterhand. For those still wondering what Masterhand is all about, a fan recorded the entire headlining set from Summoning of the Eclipse Festival and posted it on YouTube. Check out the video below:

Summoning of the Eclipse takes place annually at the Caverns in Tennessee. The dark eerie vibe was the perfect stage for Masterhard to show fans what they’ve been working on, which according to Eptic, includes 15 new tracks.

It’s safe to say that Masterhand’s debut was well-received by fans and fellow artists. Samplifire tweeted, “I’m shocked at how good it was,” while BLVNKSPACE said, “Masterhand was just an hour of the best mixdowns I’ve ever heard.”

Masterhand hasn’t announced their next performance quite yet, so stay tuned for now!

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
