Stepson of Lost Man on Submarine Threatened Massacre At Illenium Concert and Allegedly Stalked Other DJs

Brian Szasz, the stepson of Hamish Harding, the billionaire lost to the deep sea, has a troubled history in the EDM scene.

Twitter was ablaze this week after news that a luxury tourism submersible lost signal on their descent to visit the Titanic wreckage. What does this have to do with EDM you may ask, and that is a fair question because I don’t think that anyone could have predicted how. Later in the week, it was revealed that one of the tourists on board was Hamish Harding, and his stepson is Brian Szasz.

Brian Szasz has developed a reputation in the EDM world over the last few years. Two years ago, Brian Szasz threatened a “massacre” at Illenium’s Trilogy show in Las Vegas. Happening after he had reportedly harassed other Twitter users repeatedly, saying they were never safe, along with alleged harassment of Alison Wonderland. In response to the threats at Illenium’s show in 2021, the artist tweeted the following:

This week, when his name came up again after he went viral for attending a Blink 182 concert as his stepfather was missing, Twitter sleuths pieced the clues together: in 2021, Brian Szasz was the same person who threatened violence against women at the Illenium Trilogy show in Las Vegas. Illenium and Excision’s team were made aware of this and rejected his tickets and heightened security at the event.

In 2021, Szasz was charged and detained for “online stalking” for which he had a $100,000 bail in San Diego County, CA. In addition, he is said to have stalked and harassed Alison Wonderland, threatening to show up at her apartment. In one instance, he tweeted “I will f***ing find Alison wonderland and hunt her ass down!” Alison Wonderland was set to also play at Illenium’s Trilogy show.

More recently, the EDM artist Cray, the rockstar girlfriend of the dubstep artist Kayzo reported that Brian Szasz had also harassed her. There was an image circulating the internet posted by Szasz on his now-defunct Twitter account of a meet and greet.

Cray stated, “I’ve had several scary moments and restraining orders and it’s just getting to the point where meet and greets give me anxiety.” She. did not specify if this comment is about Szasz but the EDM Twitter noted how uncomfortable she looked in the picture posted. Cray noted that Szasz is now banned from her shows.

It is important to remember that everything is always connected, however, violence, harassment, and stalking are never welcome. The DJs fans idolize are real people with real feelings, it is unsafe and unhinged to make threats of violence against anyone. It was a wild week on EDM Twitter, and our thoughts go out to the victims of Brian Szasz, and the families of the 5 lost at sea.

While you’re here, check out Illenium’s Trilogy held in Denver last week below, and love your fellow ravers!

Hey! I'm Shiv! Music is the greatest part of my life, I remember discovering dubstep when I was 15/16 and my entire life was altered - robot noises?? I needed MORE! Now, I live in NYC and have seen over 60 artists of all genres; my favorites being Odesza, Subtronics, Rezz, Griz, Zeds Dead, John Summit and Kaskade. I am an enjoyer of music and will try everything once, I do not discriminate - there is beauty in all genres (minus country). You can usually find me in a warehouse at 4AM because I am nocturnal and will quite literally never say no to a show.

What's your reaction?
