Exron Exclusive Interview: Shermanology at Superior Ingredients 2023

Last week we had the opportunity to interview the incredibly talented brother-sister duo Shermanology ahead of their performance at Brooklyn’s Superior Ingredients. This wasn’t the first time we’d heard their music or seen them perform – but we were truly awed by their performance and their indescribable energy as they took the stage to a packed crowd.

We spoke to Dorothy and Andy about their childhood bond which has only increased through their love of music. They explained just how important it was to combine both their Dutch and Curaçao roots in their sound as it developed throughout the years.

The pair have even coined their own term to describe their production style, affectionately known as ‘Soultec’, combining their soulful depth with the club-ready beats of tech-house. Though Shermanology admits that being siblings as well as business partners doesn’t come without its challenges, they believe that their honest feedback with one another has majorly contributed to their successes.

We also were happy to hear about the duo’s new imprint D’eaupe Demand, created in collaboration with the iconic Jimmy Law. The label is the product of Shermanology’s D’eaupe and Jimmy’s UK Garage imprint Public Demand, combining years of friendship and admiration for one another’s music into one seamless project. Andy and Dorothy recently released their debut single on the label, entitled “Can’t Let Go” featuring vocals from none other than their own father Tony Sherman of The Sherman Brothers.

Shermanology has traveled the world performing at prestigious events such as Jamie Jones‘ Paradise and La La Land while drawing in millions of streams on their releases. Their collaboration “It’s a Killa” with Fisher has soared through the top charts with over 35 million streams, though the duo is truly just getting started.
