Hellbound Accuses Timmy Trumpet of Ripping and Releasing an Unfinished Track From his Social Media

Techno DJ Hellbound takes it to Twitter to candidly accuse Australian trumpet-wielding DJ and producer Timmy Trumpet of stealing one of his tracks.

In a recent Twitter post, Hellbound wrote, “damn im never sharing WIPs again on socials lmao. i guess whoever is writing music for timmy trumpet these days is a hellbound fan” suggesting that Trumpet’s ghost producers ripped one of his tracks. The song in question is “Tonight” by Timmy Trumpet and POLTERGST.

Hellbound created a side-by-side video of Timmy Trumpet and POLTERGST’s track with his own track, “LAST FLIGHT TO DALLAS.” The title was born out of the fact that Hellbound literally wrote the song on his flight to Dallas. He captioned on SoundCloud, “wrote this on my plane to dallas. i think this needs to come out asap. what do ya’ll think.”

Hellbound also noted that the track was a work in progress (WIP), not an official release, that was posted to Twitter and somehow discovered by Trumpet and his team. The DJ credited another Twitter user for noticing the allegedly stolen music.

Fans of Hellbound and other Twitter users rushed to the thread to give their take. Overall, the response was lighthearted–fans, as well as Hellbound himself, made a joke out of the whole thing. In fact, Hellbound seemed flattered that an internationally acclaimed DJ and musician would allegedly take his work and present it as his own.

Timmy Trumpet nor POLTERGST have responded to the allegations. However, some have expressed doubt about the similarities between the songs and said the underlying sound could not be credited to Timmy Trumpet or Hellbound, or anyone else for that matter.

One person replied, “I mean I understand the concern but your song also isn’t exactly original…. How many times has that exact same sound been used before?” Another dropped a link to yet another song that sounded similar to both – the track is titled Trepidation by Stan Christ. But you can be the judge of what really happened here!

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
