Glass Animals is Dropping a Summer Album and Heading on Tour

English indie pop sensation Glass Animals have announced a July 19th 2024 release date for ‘I LOVE YOU SO F***ING MUCH,’ with a world tour to follow.

Much to the dismay of their leagues of adoring fans, Glass Animals have been completely off the grid for the better part of two years. After their 2020 smash hit “Heat Waves” and – as soon as COVID regulations permitted – the subsequent 2022 ‘Dreamland’ tour shot them to a new stratosphere of stardom, the group’s extended radio silence has left the world wondering where they’ll go from here. Mercifully, Glass Animals have now emerged from their hibernation, announcing that their fourth studio album, ‘I LOVE YOU SO F***ING MUCH,’ will arrive on July 19th, 2024, and will be followed by a 42-stop world tour.

The band began teasing new music on March 21st, posting a cosmic reel on their wiped-clean Instagram page soft-launching the new album’s first single, “Creatures in Heaven.” One week and a few more space-themed posts later, the single’s cover art and release date of April 3rd was revealed alongside a promise that many more big announcements are en route. Just after the release of “Creatures,” Glass Animals held their promise with the enormous announcement of their forthcoming album.

Dave Bayley, the band’s frontman and songwriter, told fans that the new album examines “all the twisted shapes and forms of love, good and bad,” and was “born out of a large existential crisis.” He explains that the ‘you’ in the album’s title is “all-encompassing,” referring to “different people in different songs,” to “the album as a whole, which feels like a child to me,” and to “the listener and the people who make it possible for these songs to exist in the first place.” Bayley ends the post by expressing that “the love and human connection in the world, in all its forms, is… more complex and powerful than anything and everything else in the universe.”

“Creatures in Heaven” certainly emphasizes these themes of love and human connection with poignant lyrics and a melancholy yet ultimately optimistic tone. The song’s familiar tempo paired with Dave’s unmistakable vocals is just what the doctor ordered for Glass Animals fans who have been longing for a new tune for years. No further singles have been announced yet, but it’s a safe bet that a couple more will be on the way before July’s album drop.

One day after the album announcement, the band took to Instagram once again for another blockbuster reveal: their next world tour. The ‘Tour of Earth’ will make 27 stops across the United States and Canada in August and September 2024 before heading to Europe and the United Kingdom for 15 more shows in October and November. Support will come from Brockhampton’s Kevin Abstract, Eyedress, and Blondshell on the North American leg of the tour, and The Big Moon for all Europe and UK shows.

Glass Animals’ long-awaited return is a breath of fresh air for their fans and the entire music scene. ‘I LOVE YOU SO F***ING MUCH’ is available for pre-order now, and tickets for the Tour of Earth go on sale April 11th, 2024. Check out their new single below!
