Porter Robinson Shares Glimpse Into Upcoming Album With Pop-Influenced Single ‘Cheerleader’

Ahead of his forthcoming third studio album, Porter Robinson has introduced the first single, “Cheerleader.”

“Cheerleader” marks the first single from Porter Robinson’s upcoming album. Although fans still don’t know what the album will be called, they know it’s coming soon due to various hints dropped by the producer over social media, and now, the first track from the album. “Cheerleader” undoubtedly offers insight into what fans can expect from the remainder of the compilation.

The new single veers more towards pop compared to the artist’s typical electro-house style. Porter contributes his own voice to a pop-punk vocal piece. Nevertheless, its dreamlike melodies and cinematic synths are unmistakably characteristic of Porter Robinson, making it an instant hit with fans.

In the beginning of March, Porter shared the news of the upcoming album with fans. He said that the album was done, and also shared a short preview clip. However, fans still don’t know which tracks will be featured on the album, how many songs will be included, or if there will be any collaborators. Porter Robinson has been using the element of mystery (and trolling) to keep fans on their toes for the past few weeks.

The day before “Cheerleader” was set for release, Porter made a post on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, “My single cheerleader f***ing leaked a day early after months of work so here you go i guess.” The clip turned out to be a hilarious troll, with “Cheerleader” by Omi playing, instead of Porter’s new single. To top off the joke, texts from “Drake” were flooding through in the notifications.

Porter excels not only in the studio but also in curating large-scale music events. His prowess is evident in his annual Second Sky festival in California. Over the past decade, his dedication to his projects and the dance music community has earned him a vast global fanbase. Porter’s consistent innovation and boundary-pushing in electronic music have garnered respect and admiration from the entire music industry.

Porter Robinson’s new single “Cheerleader” has fans eagerly anticipating the upcoming album release. Having single-handedly shifted the direction of dance music, his new pop-punk style gives plenty to consider while waiting.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
