Desert Hearts Festival Announces New Arizona Location + 2024 Dates

Mikey Lion and the Desert Hearts crew have announced the 2024 edition of the Desert Hearts Festival in Arizona.

Desert Hearts has announced the dates and venue of its house and techno festival happening on July 4-8 at Playa Ponderosa in Flagstaff, Arizona. Growing tremendously over the last 12 years, Desert Hearts has become a mainstay in the house and techno industry stemming from its beginnings in the Mojave Desert.

Created by friends, Mikey Lion, Lee Reynolds, Marbs, and Porky the festival and brand has become a staple in the free-spirited aura of music, which gives a welcome alternative to many capitalism and commercially dominated festival scenes across the states.

The community will be able to revert to their signature around-the-clock music programming and foundational ‘one-stage, one-vibe’ format. This style allows them to showcase a distinctive festival layout of theme camps, artists, installations, and art cars that bring the festival grounds alive.

Head honcho, Mikey Lion writes, “Join us as we write the next chapter of Desert Hearts Festival history on July 4th weekend in Flagstaff, AZ, amidst mountains and pine trees! Our new venue, the incredible Playa Ponderosa, is an intimate and beautiful property owned by friends familiar with the classic DH vibe. The theme of this festival is reconnecting with our roots and embracing the essence of what made Desert Hearts so special during our time at the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation from 2014 to 2019.

“This means an intimate and free environment with One Stage, One Vibe playing the full spectrum of House & Techno music nonstop all weekend. We are excited to be teaming up with our twin flame community, the Walter Fam, who you may know from their unreal venues in Phoenix, Walter Where?House and Walter Studios, or their incredible Camp Walter at Burning Man that is host to a fleet of radical art carts.”

DH and Walter have been fostering a relationship and hosting massive parties together for over 10 years. Walter is known for its fleet of art cars, most famously ‘Walter’, which is housed in the Phoenix art scene and has been a staple of prior years of Burning Man.

Walter has been part of the festival scene for many years and we can safely say there is no better venue than Playa Ponderosa.”

The festival occurs on the Fourth of July weekend in the Coconino National Forest. The stunning backdrop to this festival is sure to set a beautiful scene for the 12th year of the festival and the continuation of a joyous partnership between Desert Hearts and Walter Fam.

Music is the greatest part of my life, I remember discovering dubstep when I was 15/16 and my entire life was altered – robot noises?? I needed MORE!

Now, I live in NYC and have seen over 60 artists of all genres; my favorites being Odesza, Subtronics, Rezz, Griz, Zeds Dead, John Summit and Kaskade. I am an enjoyer of music and will try everything once, I do not discriminate – there is beauty in all genres (minus country).

You can usually find me in a warehouse at 4AM because I am nocturnal and will quite literally never say no to a show.
