Calvin Harris Shares Plan to Quit DJing

Calvin Harris announces he’ll be retiring from DJing soon.

In a recent 15-minute interview with Capital Dance, Calvin Harris has revealed that he is planning to quit DJing entirely. The internationally acclaimed DJ and producer was joined by MistaJam and Rag’n’Bone Man (who he’s releasing a new tune with soon) on air, where he admits that he couldn’t see himself behind the decks in the future.

While this public announcement is devastating news for Calvin Harris fans worldwide, the EDM icon seems pretty adamant about his decision. In the interview, he expresses that he would much rather prefer to dedicate his time solely to being in the studio making records, even as a ghost producer for other artists if the opportunity arises. He claims that his greatest talent is “making things sound good.”

For a while, Calvin Harris took a hiatus from touring after feeling worn down from only performing at his official Las Vegas residency shows. He claimed that playing weekly shows in Vegas was “too much” and prevented him from making any new music for a year and a half. This left fans longing for new Calvin Harris releases and anticipating his official return across various cities around the globe.

In 2023, he performed at various music festivals such as Primavera Sound, Creamfields, and Zürich Open Air, and more. He is slated to perform at Ultra Music Festival next month and a wide array of other festivals throughout the next couple of months. He’s also been consistent with his Ushuaïa Ibiza residency and Las Vegas residencies despite his negative experience performing in Sin City. These residencies are also scheduled to continue this year.

The mastermind behind a magnitude of top-of-the-chart releases such as “We Found Love” with Rihanna, “How Deep Is Your Love”, “Summer”, “Feel So Close”, and more is convinced that “the more commercial end of DJing can get a little bit suspect,” which is one of the leading factors for his decision to retire from it.
