Inside EDM’s Biggest Super Bowl Yet with Performances from Kaskade and The Chainsmokers

During the 2024 Super Bowl, electronic dance music has thrived including performances by Kaskade, The Chainsmokers, and others.

This past weekend the Super Bowl may have made headlines for sports fans. But, for the electronic dance music scene the artists performing were the main focus. Certainly, many people attend and watch the Super Bowl for one main thing, the sport. But with the first-ever in-game DJ and a plethora of Las Vegas parties, this year revolved larger around the music scene as well.

This year, the EDM scene made its mark with a series of Super Bowl weekend performances, both before and after the big game. Leading up to the main event, Las Vegas attendees joined in the fun with plenty of pre-game parties and events across the host city. On Friday, events such as John Summit performing at the new LIV Las Vegas took place. Also, Shaquille O’Neal hosted his own curated party called ‘Shaq’s Fun House’. The event featured performances by Lil Wayne, Diplo, and of course his DJ alias DJ Diesel. Also, at the popular Las Vegas club, Omnia, Alessa brought the house down for Super Bowl Weekend, Night One.

The following day the crowds started filling the streets of the Las Vegas Strip. So, in true Vegas fashion, the parties continued. Sports Illustrated hosted their curated pre-party at XS Night Club featuring Kygo and The Chainsmokers. While Illenium, Kaskade, Zedd, and Tyga set the stage at Zouk and Omnia nightclub.

Finally, the day had arrived. Super Bowl Sunday had arrived. Certainly, the players and fans were feeling nervous and excited going into such a big day. But, nothing could compare to what our first in-game DJ, Kaskade, would be feeling this day. Originally, Tiësto was set to be the Super Bowl’s first in-game DJ. But, due to family issues, Kaskade gladly accepted this incredible once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. He even wrote to Instagram stating “To be able to be the first Electronic Musician to be part of the full game experience of the Super Bowl held in Las Vegas seems like coming home, and I’m beyond excited to represent my community.”

Certainly, Kaskade delivered a top-notch performance for attendees. From glimpses into the game, he played his hit “Escape” and even showcased Odd Mob and Omnom’s hit “Losing Control” to get the crowd jumping. Safe to say no matter what team won or lost this game, everyone went home happy because of Kaskade.

Following the epic Super Bowl, the afterparties took place. Calvin Harris made his debut for his LIV LV residency. But, the real party was Marshmello’s performance at the Kansas Chief victory party at XS. From the videos of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce singing ‘You Belong with Me’ to each other to Jason Kelce grooving backstage.

My name is Emilee Gabbard. I currently live in sunny Orange County, CA. By day I am a project manager working in the aerospace industry, but by night a music blogger for yours truly, Exron Music! I have been writing for Exron Music for around eight months now and cannot wait to see what is to come throughout the years. At festivals and clubs, you will find me at any house and techno stage supporting my favorites Eli Brown or Dom Dolla, or belting every word to Porter Robinson tracks wherever he performs.
