BLOND:ISH Announces Pregnancy With Partner Liana Hillison

Canadian house DJ BLOND:ISH has revealed her partner’s pregnancy to fans and shared their struggles balancing IVF with touring.

About a year and a half after BLOND:ISH (Vivie-ann Bakos) announced her engagement to longtime girlfriend Liana Hillison, the prolific DJ and activist has shared another huge piece of relationship news with the world. In an Instagram post, Bakos reveals that Liana is pregnant and shares some details surrounding the difficult process of going through in-vitro fertilization (IVF) while touring. The post included a tremendous combination of gorgeous pregnancy photos of her and Liana and hilarious memes.

BLOND:ISH called the pregnancy process “by far the hardest thing we’ve ever encountered as a couple.” She says that “the odds were stacked” against them with being “constantly on tour, in a same-sex relationship, without the luxury of sperm on tap, and really just not a thought in my mind to go harvest some eggs/embryos along the way.” She goes on to praise her partner Liana for handling all the challenging planning and logistics in between playing sets and traveling.

The post discusses her attempts to balance the endless stress of being a touring DJ with trying to have a child, something that fellow female DJs such as Amelie Lens and Alison Wonderland know a lot about. Ultimately, the couple decided to cancel a show last summer to “respect myself and the process” after her acupuncturist urged her to do so. Bakos admits that she “personally wasn’t educated on this growing up, and I don’t believe that many women are.”

BLOND:ISH has an extensive tour schedule, including several European stops and festival sets at Coachella and Elements. If the honesty and openness of this initial post is any indication, fans can likely expect to see a lot of updates from the couple as they continue to balance the touring lifestyle with this beautiful journey they are on together.
