Tita Lau Reflects on Career ‘Highs and Lows’ Ahead of Coachella Debut

Tita Lau shares come up, from saving up for CDJs to being accepted into the industry and to headlining Coachella.

This week, the Coachella Music and Arts Festival released the lineup for its 2024 edition. Among the many and diverse names in the lineup was none other than London-based DJ and producer, Tita Lau. Coachella’s exclusivity draws thousands of hopeful artists; only a certain amount get to perform at this special festival.

Shortly after the lineup came out, Lau took to Instagram to post the following caption: “13 years ago an ex-boyfriend of mine was a DJ and had a pair of 12-10s at his house. I’d never played on any type of DJ equipment before, but I loved everything to do with music, so decided to try it out. I found mixing records and beat matching really fun and how you could seamlessly transition from one song to the other. The first mix when you get it is the BEST feeling ever. I got my first pair of Technics for £100 (I know) but found that all the bars and clubs used CDJs, so I saved money for agessss to buy CDJ-1000s, practiced loads and got my first booking at my friends event at our local bar.”

She continued “Over the years of playing in bars and clubs on some questionable equipment I’ve had some of the highest highs and the lowest lows being accepted in the industry. But every 7 hour drive up and down the motorway to play a 5 hour set then come home when the sun was rising was worth it. I am now announcing that I am playing my debut set at @coachella this year at the iconic Sahara tent. Dreams really do come true.”

It’s always enlightening when an artist shares their come up and the struggles it took to launch their careers. Tita’s career has been nothing short of amazing and she continues to ramp up her artistry year after year. With consistent releases and global tours, Tita Lau has become a massive draw in the dance music scene. At shows, fans visibly express praise for Ms. Lau by throwing up the famous “T” with their arms.

Sahara Tent

As previously mentioned, Lau will be performing on the iconic and massive Sahara tent stage. The Sahara tent, the dance-driven corner of the festival, has featured some of the industry’s biggest names over the years. Some of the names include Madonna, Rihanna, Carl Cox, Daft Punk, Major Lazer, RL Grime, Avicii, Skrillex, and many more. Over the years, the stage has become more hybrid by hosting more pop and rap acts. It still continues to go all out once the DJs plug in.

Last but not least, be sure to secure your tickets to Coachella to catch the one and only Tita Lau.

My name is Sebastian Medina and I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Ever since I could remember, I have always been in love with dance music. I appreciate all genres and sub-genres but I definitely gravitate towards house and techno. Being from LA I was blessed with an amazing nightlife full of different artists coming in and out of town throughout the years. Some of my favorite artists include Seth Troxler, Michael Bibi, Mr.Carmack, PAWSA, and Folamour.
