Lane 8 Reveals 2023 Winter Mixtape

Denver-based melodic house icon Lane 8 has released the latest installment of his seasonal mixtape series.

Every three months, melodic house heads celebrate what should be declared an international holiday, AKA Lane 8 officially declaring the change of the season with the release of one of his seasonal mixtapes. Since 2013, the mixtapes have arrived like clockwork to set the tone for the new season with a mesmerizing mix ranging anywhere from 1 hour to 5 hours. That holiday has arrived once again, as the This Never Happened label boss has finally dropped his Winter 2023 mixtape on Apple Music, Soundcloud, and YouTube to transition us into the cold winter months.

The two-hour and 40-minute mix includes buttery smooth transitions between a selection of hypnotic tracks from TNH label regulars like Sultan + Shepherd, Le Youth, and Rinzen as well as other house heavyweights like Bob Moses, Spencer Brown, and Eden Prince. Several artists that frequent Tale of Us’s Afterlife label make appearances on the mixtape as well, including Adriatique, Colyn, and Dyzen. As he does with all his seasonal mixtapes, Lane 8 works in many unreleased IDs – 15 of them, to be exact – with the artist and song name kept secret.

In his newest mixtape, Lane 8 once again shows off his unmatched ability to ease listeners soothingly through various dreamy, entrancing soundscapes. He seamlessly incorporates some slightly harsher, more intense pieces occasionally as well to briefly wake listeners from their trance and keep them on their toes. The mixtape is sure to serve as the soundtrack for many fans’ lives for weeks and months to come.

Following the release of his Fall 2023 mixtape in September, Lane 8 made a heartfelt Instagram post reminiscing on 10 years of creating and releasing these seasonal mixtapes. In the caption, he tells fans that the “objective and ethos of the mixtapes have always been the same – to present the music that inspires me to move, to create, and to feel” and that the songs he selects for the mixtapes are those that have “been most important to my life over the past decade, and I think to many of your lives as well.”

In the post, he also provided a list of the 15 artists that have appeared most in his mixtapes over the years, topped by Massane and including the likes of Yotto, Tinlicker, Ben Bohmer, and Rüfüs Du Sol. Now that it has officially been released, check out Lane 8’s new Winter 2023 mixtape below!
