Dom Dolla Wins GQ Australia’s Solo Artist of the Year with Speech from Nelly Furtado

Calling Dom Dolla “a class act,” Nelly Furtado had been invited to present Dom Dolla at the Men of the Year Awards by GQ Australia.

Before stepping onto the stage to receive his award for “Solo Artist of the Year,” the event had played a video featuring singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado. The pair’s collaboration “Eat Your Man” had racked up over 1 million streams in days. She praised his ethic, congratulated him on a successful year, and described him as a great artist and person.

Dom Dolla had shared pictures of him and friends, donning black pants and a white button-up with a black tie and jacket. The artist’s post had pictures with Matt Ford and GQ Australia’s Man of the Year, Troye Sivan. In interviews, he expressed his pride in being Australian and how the scene there has supported him over the years.

In response to the win, Dom Dolla wrote, “What an [honor], this year keeps [leveling] up and I couldn’t be more grateful.” This could not be closer to the truth as he has been nominated for a Grammy for his role in “New Gold” by Gorillaz and Tame Impala. He was also nominated for six ARIA Awards, one of which he won.

Between the three singles he dropped in 2023, Dom Dolla earned an astonishing 132 million streams on Spotify and hit global charts. “Eat Your Man” has been responsible for about 39 million of those.

Dom Dolla and Nelly Furtado met and took the stage together at Beyond The Valley Festival in January 2023. Since then, they have performed live at Lollapalooza, celebrated in Ibiza, and shown each other unwavering support.

The sweet speech can be found on the DJ’s Instagram, along with photos from the event. Celebrate Dom Dolla being named Solo Artist of the Year by GQ Australia and listen to “Eat Your Man” with Nelly Furtado here:
