Madeon to Take ‘Gap Year’ From Performing to Write New Album

Madeon has announced that he will be taking a gap year From Touring so he can focus on finishing his upcoming album.

Madeon announces that he is preparing to enter a new era as he will take a gap year in 2024 to focus on completing his new album. During this time off, he will not be touring and playing his beloved live shows to fans to prioritize the new project.

He assured fans that his vision for this next album and live show is clear, but did state that he needs them to be patient since the writing and creative process takes time. Authentic creativity doesn’t happen in one day, and deciding to take on this hiatus only showcases Madeon’s true colors and dedication as an artist in full light.

Madeon Gap Year

Madeon hopes to use the coming year as a “playground to experiment.” He plans to play a few special DJ shows here and there but emphasized that will not be doing solo live shows in the foreseeable future. He has not disclosed which artists he wants to collaborate with yet, but also has plans to perform many new B2Bs starting with a special B2B with San Holo at Ultra Music Festival in Miami in 2024.

To Madeon, this gap year is necessary for the quality of his new album and live shows to be better than ever before. Madeon has already been deep in the album-making process and has a few more live shows left before the end of the year. Madeon Gap Year

Madeon has also confirmed that he will lean into this experimental direction for some of the end-of-year DJ sets. He has already entered this new era by switching his social media profile picture for the first time in four years. Fans have already spoken out saying something as little as changing a profile pic is, “disorienting and crazy actually.” This experiential exploration is something Madeon is looking forward to accomplishing, as he has already managed to build an esteemed reputation over the last few years.

But, artists are meant to grow and should be allowed to change directions as they please. With that being said, Madeon has received mixed emotions from fans commenting on his gap year. The realms in which these comments live are based on fans not wanting to see him leave but understanding that for him not to burn out, taking a break is necessary to grow and expand his music in new and extraordinary directions.

My favorite thing in the whole world is music and after hearing "One" by Swedish House Mafia for the first time in 2014, I was hooked on EDM. Dance music has been a large part of who I am and will always be searching for new ways to incorporate it in my life. The pure bliss that I feel from live shows is a feeling I never want to stop chasing (iykyk). Some of my favorite artists are Flume, Rüfüs Du Sol, Mindchatter, Disclosure, Dom Dolla and Fred Again.. :)
