Top 5 Afterlife Releases of 2023

Afterlife has continued to show fans why it is one of the top independent record labels in the world with a series of outstanding 2023 releases.

In the ever-changing world of electronic dance music, Afterlife stands out as a leader in innovation, consistently delivering groundbreaking releases that redefine the sonic landscape. As we move through the heart of 2023, it’s clear that Afterlife continues to captivate audiences with its commitment to pushing boundaries and creating immersive musical experiences. But, as painful as picking the top five Afterlife releases was. There are a few that have left an indelible mark on the year.

Aria – Argy & Omnya

The infamous track that had everyone hitting Shazam before its release date, “Aria” takes the forefront as one of the top Afterlife releases in 2023. The track’s mesmerizing composition and tribe-like vocals transformed listeners into another dimension. But, it also got the crowd bouncing at every festival including the main stage at Tomorrowland. The captivating melodies and hypnotic rhythms of ‘Aria’ pushed the boundaries of electronic music while offering an immersive experience that transcends the ordinary. Also, with surprise appearances in sets by Fisher, Tiesto, and Charlotte De Witte the track reached audiences into genres larger than the melodic techno realm.

Metro – Kevin de Vries & Mau P

Next up is one that surprised many Afterlife fans. A release by the rising house DJ, Mau P. Who would have thought the mastermind behind “Gimme That Bounce” would be featured on a melodic techno track? Well, the track “Metro” by Kevin de Vries and Mau P did just that. This track collaborative masterpiece that blends the unique styles of these two talented artists seamlessly. Also, who could forget that insane 2023 memories when Mau P played the track during a literal meteor shower? So epic. 

Genesys EP – Anyma

This list could not be complete without mentioning the masterpiece of an EP by the one and only Anyma. In 2023, the Tale of Us duo gave us a further glimpse into their solo projects. This included the debut of Anyma’s “Genesys EP“. The EP showcased a plethora of huge tracks for the artist. But also, included classics heard in Tale of Us sets throughout the year in collaborations with the popular AI artwork by the artist. The album included some superior tracks such as “Eternity,” “The Sign” featuring Camelphat, “Syren” featuring Rebuke, and “Save Me” featuring Cassian, and Poppy Baskcomb. 

Manifesto EP – MRAK

As noted, Tale of Us showcased more solo project tracks in 2023. So, next up we have the outstanding MRAK’s “Manifesto” EP. This EP features two powerful releases from the second member of Tale of Us duo, Carmine Conte. Although the EP only included two tracks, they delivered. Each track, “Manifesto” and “Equilibrium”, brings a sense of pureness while showcasing the classic Afterlife sound. Also, these tracks certainly showcase MRAK’s talent. Truly brings a hypnotic yet melodic feel to listeners.

Aran – Cassian

Although this track was released close to the end of 2023, it deserves a spot on this list. Last but not least we have Cassian‘s latest release “Aran”. This track is one of the top five tracks due to its seamless blend of euphoria and melancholy. The song is characterized by emotive melodies and intricate production. Also, this track solidifies Cassian’s ability to connect with listeners deeply. This release was a part of Afterlife’s track release titled “Realm of Consciousness Pt. VI”. Other notable releases on this include standout tracks like “Simulation” by Anyma & Chris Avantgarde, “Speranza” by MRAK, and “Jai” by Fideles. 

Outside of these top five releases, the label releases numerous amount of hits. Some honorable mentions for tracks outside the top releases include the following. Higher Power by Anyma, Argy, and MAGNUS which was released weeks after the first-ever Afterlife Los Angeles event. Then lastly, the track that truly was an ID fans have been waiting for, ‘Shut Down’ by Massano. Although this track had more of a clublike feel, fans eagerly awaited this new sound since Tale of Us showcased it in their 2023 shows. 

In conclusion, Afterlife continues to lead the way in electronic dance music. In 2023 we saw growth and evolution for the record label. But also, dedication to exploring new sounds, embracing artistic diversity, and pushing the boundaries of electronic music. As 2023 comes to an end, truly Afterlife remains at the forefront of the industry. 2024 will surely be another huge year for the label and fans cannot wait to see what is in store!
