These five artists have been keeping the Sound of New York City’s Underground Alive.

In a city where nightlife is king, New York’s underground electronic music scene has been home to the “rising star” for years. NYC boasts an extensive roster of talented DJs, producers, and other artists who have pushed boundaries and created their own lanes. As new names appear daily, these are a few artists making waves in NYC’s underground.

Club Eat

Club Eat is an electropop duo based in NYC. Composed of producer Chicken and DJ and vocalist Ren G, the duo came onto the scene in 2020 after hosting club nights around the city. They have become fixtures in NYC nightlife, known for transforming places such as a Manhattan dim sum restaurant into their personal club. From their tooth-rotting lyrics over club beats to their more experimental tracks, Club Eat is for the crazy girl — believe that!

Moistbreezy

Moistbreezy is another dance artist making waves with her futuristic yet nostalgic sound. Creating her own world on her debut album ‘Pure Imagination,’ she explores Y2K aesthetics and reimagines the 2000s European dance floor. Besides her occasional live performance, you will usually see her spinning trance and Eurodance at Mood Ring for her monthly party hulaHOOP.

Sevyn 0000

As a multi-genre artist, Sevyn 0000 has an extensive grasp of the sonic universe. Able to mix seamlessly between hard-hitting classics and more experimental tracks, Sevyn 0000 can create a dance floor for anyone. Sevyn 0000 has played sets at HÖR Berlin, Boiler Room, and NYC’s infamous Basement. Furthermore, she recently held her second sound and performance gathering, CREEP Vol. II at Intima.

x3butterfly

x3butterfly is a Mexican/American DJ and producer with a worldwide perspective. Having already played sets internationally and for the likes of HÖR Berlin and Boiler Room, x3butterfly has settled in NYC for the past year. She also recently scored a residency at Brooklyn club Paragon with nightlife legends Joey Beltram, Byrell the Great, TYGAPAW, and others. Depending on her crowd, x3butterfly will spin a variety of genres like drum and bass, dubstep, and techno.

Soo Intoit

Brooklyn DJ/performer Soo Intoit has been making noise since 2020. Soo Intoit went from playing intimate basement and rooftop gatherings to producing her own events, such as her monthly party at Trans-Pecos, CRITICAL HIT. While you play the available Playstation 2 games, you are transported to a video game world as Soo Intoit plays video-game-influenced trance, techno, industrial, etc.
