LP Giobbi’s Laptop Stolen on New York Subway Hours Before Show

Renowned DJ/producer LP Giobbi feels the wrath of NYC as a stranger steals her laptop on a crowded subway.

In an unfortunate turn of events, LP Giobbi has fallen victim to laptop theft on the bustling NYC subway just hours before her Knockdown Center show. Known for vibrant performances interwoven with live music, LP Giobbi was living a New York minute when the incident occurred. As she had her show laptop with her, the device containing crucial music files and unreleased tracks that she needed throughout her tour.

The artist took to Instagram to alert fans of the unfortunate news, expressing a mix of frustration and gratitude. The caption to her post reads, “New York you were incredible… There was a moment where I didn’t think the full show was going to happen”. She then noted that “to go from tears of dread to tears of joy was a wild rollercoaster”.

Fans and fellow musicians rushed to the comments to share their thoughts on the incident and show their support. One user wittily wrote “How dare anyone steal from the Queen of Piano House?!” Several fans commented on the set’s A+ caliber nonetheless, noting no surprise she “turned things around and made it a joyous night.”

This is certainly not the first time that an artist has lost a USB or laptop to a greedy passerby while on tour.  From Aaron Hibell to Gorgon City, airports and hotels are notoriously prime territory for such musical mishaps. Furthermore, while John Summit continues his loss-free streak, he did get his wallet stolen in Ibiza and does keep several replacement USBs on hand.

LP Giobbi has made impressive contributions to the music industry, particularly through her involvement with Femme House. As a DJ, pianist, and music technologist, she continues to carve out a unique space in this male-dominated industry. Furthermore, she is crucial in empowering women and non-binary individuals through masterclasses, workshops, and mentorship programs.

One can only hope that LP Giobbi has a backup of her hard drive floating on the Cloud somewhere.  Nonetheless, clearly not even a stolen laptop can’t stop this spunky kindhearted artist from achieving greatness. Having grown up just an earshot from Ultra Miami's venue Bayfront Park, it was next to impossible for me not to fall in love with electronic music. My love for music was evidently strong enough for me to write my college essay on festival culture and continue attending Ultra for 10+ years now. I have always had a knack for writing and the power of words, which I continued cultivating through a Philosophy degree in college. Now, I am finishing up law school and hope to merge my passions by working in the music industry. I am an avid traveler and am certainly not afraid to hop on a plane for a music event. My next bucket list items to attend are Tomorrowland in Belgium and ADE in the Netherlands. Though the list could go on forever, some of my favorite artists include Franky Wah, Kevin de Vries, Eli Brown, and John Summit.
