Claude VonStroke Takes Indefinite Hiatus to Focus on Bass Project Barclay Crenshaw

Claude VonStroke announces he is taking a break from House Music.

Claude Vonstroke, Dirty Bird Records founder and iconic house music DJ, has announced on his Instagram that he will be focusing on bass music under his Barclay Crenshaw alias. He expresses his excitement for this new explorative chapter of his career. December will be the last month fans can catch a Claude Vonstroke set before his full transition to Barclay Crenshaw for the foreseeable future.

The music and performance structure is nothing like what house fans are used to receiving from him. This is not the first time that VonStroke has experimented with the bass sound, as he’s performed as Barclay Crenshaw sparingly throughout the years. However, this will be his first time fully leaning into the genre in full force as its own standalone project.

Claude Vonstroke gave fans a sneak peek of what’s to come from Barclay Crenshaw during his recent performance alongside bass artist Of The Trees at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado. The show also featured Yheti, the bass music producer known for his complex song structure and live A/V sets on tour.

Barclay Crenshaw will be developing a unique, mind-altering sound inspired by his wide range of musical inspirations. Crenshaw has mentioned 90s hip hop, futuristic funk, and low tones as building blocks for his bass sound. On his new album, Barclay will be collaborating with artist Daniel Martin Diaz for futuristic visuals to accompany the experience of the music.

Vonstroke has started a separate Instagram account where fans can follow music updates for Barclay Crenshaw only. While prepping for his bass music tour, Barclay is still collaborating with big-name artists. On his Barclay Crenshaw Instagram, he’s posted snippets of new music including a collaboration with London rapper Skepta.

Claude Vonstroke has kept rocking stages for the past 20 years because of his knack for reinvention in the house genre. As he ventures into bass in full force, his 2024 tour is expected to be as hard-hitting as his bass set at Wakaan Music Festival in 2022. Fans can get tickets to see Claude Vonstroke’s final closing house-only shows on the Step Into My House tour here.

Hi! My name is Destine and I found a love for House and EDM through my time in the NYC dance community. My favorite thing about music is how it brings people together without having to say a word. Some of my favorite artists include Kaytranada, Kelela, Shygirl, and Uncle Waffles.
