Fans Allegedly Sell Tickets After deadmau5 Announces DNB Set at Red Rocks

Fans have allegedly been selling their deadmau5 Red Rocks tickets after the producer announced he would be playing a DNB set as his alias, TESTPILOT.

Deadmau5 has returned to Red Rocks for his two-night Day of the Deadmau5 event featuring Volaris, Good Times Ahead, and Jauz on November 4-5. However, fans have allegedly been selling their tickets after learning he would be performing a special DNB set as his alter ego, TESTPILOT.

On November 4, Global Dance Festival tweeted the announcement, which sparked the conversation about fans being upset and getting rid of their tickets. Whereas others have voiced opinions that some have been ungrateful and do not appreciate his multidimensional sound.

Renowned for progressive house and techno, the producer has been an icon in the electronic music industry for almost a decade. And while some people hold strong opinions about different subgenres of music, the backlash he has allegedly faced has been a surprise considering the respect he’s earned as a producer throughout the years.

Immediately, fans have taken to Twitter to defend the artist’s choice. One person tweeted, “Everyone selling their Deadmau5 tickets because he’s doing a DnB set… YALL need to grow up.” Another person said, “Mfs selling their deadmau5 Red Rocks tickets cause he’s playing a dnb set ungrateful.”

Recognizing the artist’s evolution, many fans have celebrated that a producer of his stature would experiment with different styles of music. And, of course, it appears that those who did attend were blown away by deadmau5’ take on DNB as TESTPILOT. After the first night of the event, a fan on deadmau5’ post responded, “The drum n bass set to end the show was so incredibly hype! Max respect for that choice.”

Not to mention, deadmau5 has been featuring his alter ego in many other cities as well. Last month, the producer spotlighted his TESTPILOT alias alongside ZHU in a three-night run in San Francisco, which was well received. Therefore, it’ll be no surprise if he continues to incorporate more DNB into his sound in the future.
