Following his career debut release of track, “New Reality”, Chai Chang delivers an exclusive playlist on Exron Music.

Chai Chang, a Chinese-Australian rising artist based in Melbourne, has proven that age is no barrier to rewriting one’s life story. At the age of 30, he decided to leave behind his banking career and embrace a new path as a solo dance singer. His debut single, “New Reality,” takes a deep dive into the world of social media and the pursuit of fame.

Chai Chang’s journey began in Hong Kong, where his love for music and fashion was ignited. This passion for fashion helped cultivate his distinct style paired with his inviting persona that served as the foundation of a star in the making. His music is inspired by a mix of C-pop, K-pop, and Western music making for a unique blend that he incorporates into his own music.

Growing up in Hong Kong, Cantonese was Chang’s first language. He aspired to combine his love for C-pop and K-pop with English music, a task he knew would be challenging but was determined as it was his dream to become an artist. He started preparing for “New Reality” in June 2022, embarking on a journey to conquer the English language.

“New Reality” serves as Chai Chang’s introduction to the music scene. The song is a fusion of electropop and dance-pop that intertwines English and Mandarin rap sections aimed to reach a global audience. The track explores the world of social media-savvy individuals and the lengths they go to in their quest for fame.

Chang discussed that he did not have an easy life or path into stardom. Following graduation from university, he began a full-time career in banking but still possessed his love for entertainment. He took jobs as a model or an extra in films, but opportunities were slim. However, he did not let this stop him and decided to go full force into pursuing his dream as a singer.

Chang comments on his new musical journey, “I am now in my early 30s. I believe it’s never too late to start something new. It’s my goal to integrate English and Chinese music, whether the audience are from the East or the West. This is why I included a rap part in Mandarin as a showcase of our Chinese music culture. With my passion and determination, I hope the audience will feel and share my sincerity.”
