Seven Lions and Above & Beyond Reunite for First Collab in 4 Years

The new song, ‘Over now,’ featuring opposite the other, Marks the reunion of two edm powerhouses

The founders of Anjunabeats (Above & Beyond) and Ophelia Records (Seven Lions) have reunited to deliver an emotional new single, ‘Over Now,’ with the help of the South African band, Opposite the Other.

The single which debuted earlier this year at EDC Las Vegas excited fans as this would be the first time in four years that Seven Lions and Above & Beyond have collaborated on a single. ‘Over Now’ will be out on September 22nd, and is a follow-up to their previous 2019 collaboration, ‘See the End.’

‘See the End,’ which features Opposite the Other as well quickly amassed over 19M streams on Spotify alone. For their new single, the emotional lyrics and swelling build-up of the single represent optimism and hope. When asked to reflect on the track, Sam Burger, AKA Opposite the Other, explains, “The initial lyrical idea for the song actually came to me near the end of the pandemic.

Like many others, I was in a dark place for so many reasons. The truth hit me that no matter how good or bad a situation is, there will always be an ending. This song is about the hope that the light at the end of the tunnel will arrive sooner rather than later. Working with Above & Beyond and Seven Lions once again has been the biggest joy, and I’m super excited to see how this song resonates with people”

Despite having seemingly different genres, the two seem to share a mutual respect for the intricacies and musicality of each other’s works. Above & Beyond has even expressed admiration for the way Seven Lions masterfully crafts melodies and songs by saying, “[Seven Lions’s] remix of ‘On My Way To Heaven’ was incredible, so it was really only a matter of time before we’d make a record with him.”

Seven Lions and Above & Beyond have always been fans of each other’s works. Their history spans deeper than just ‘See the End.’ In 2011, an emerging Seven Lions caught Above & Beyond’s eye by winning a remix competition with his unique remix of their song, ‘You Got To Go’ (feat. Zoë Johnston). This sparked a relationship between the two artists, which spanned multiple collaborative performances, and further remixes by Seven Lions.
