Where to Catch Zeds Dead This Weekend in Brooklyn

Zeds Dead returns to Bushwick this weekend for a Dead Beats takeover at the Brooklyn Mirage Friday and an Altered States Event at the Chocolate Factory Saturday.

GRiZ ya, ZEDS DEAD! Zeds Dead (back in Bushwick) baby, Zeds Dead! The iconic duo made up of Hooks and DC, are making a glorious return to NYC this week and bringing the heat literally and metaphorically. No, actually it’s 100 degrees and the beats are hot.

On Friday night, the Brooklyn Mirage is hosting a Dead Beats takeover of the mainstage Mirage and Kings Hall. With a massive Dead Beats lineup and a sold-out show, this is sure to be a wild night.

Friday night will be the home for sets from Tape B, a trap-influenced duo fresh off the release of the Dead Beats-produced EP, ‘Over Saturated,’ and the masters behind one of our fave songs, “Goldie (Tape B Flip).” You can also catch Eazybaked, also riding the high of a wicked set at Electric Forest a few weeks back – the feedback was only praise on Twitter for WEEKS.

Zeds Dead will be headlining the night and we are READY. Zeds Dead is a veteran duo that introduced me and many others to the world of bass. One of their first singles dropped over 10 years ago, and is still only available on SoundCloud, “Journey of a Lifetime.” They are also the wizards behind “Lost You,” “Eyes on Fire,” “God Loves Ugly,” and more recently the mega-hit “Ecstacy of Soul” with GRiZ. They have also begun to expand their discography and classic bass sound with techno-influenced “Aftertaste” and “One Three Nine.”

The following night on Saturday, Zeds Dead is back with an Altered States event at the Chocolate Factory, fresh off the release of a new single. This week, they dropped “Levitate” with Funkin Matt. Altered States is a second-label endeavor for Hooks and DC, they say that it is a “new dimension of experimental sound.” Having dropped a mix tape in 2021, ‘Catching Z’s,’ being able to see their evolution of sound over the course of two nights is going to be absolutely sick.

Opening for at Altered States on Saturday will be HNTR, Suray Sertin, and Corinne. In addition, Also opening for Zeds Dead at Mirage are Mersiv, Ternion Sound, Rossy, and Capshun. A DNB takeover will happen in Kings Hall featuring Preethi, Macky Gee, Rohan, Reaper, and Kumarion.

Hey! I'm Shiv! Music is the greatest part of my life, I remember discovering dubstep when I was 15/16 and my entire life was altered - robot noises?? I needed MORE! Now, I live in NYC and have seen over 60 artists of all genres; my favorites being Odesza, Subtronics, Rezz, Griz, Zeds Dead, John Summit and Kaskade. I am an enjoyer of music and will try everything once, I do not discriminate - there is beauty in all genres (minus country). You can usually find me in a warehouse at 4AM because I am nocturnal and will quite literally never say no to a show.

What's your reaction?
