Meduza’s Matt Vitale Collapses Backstage at Tomorrowland 2023

Matt Vitale of Meduza collapses backstage at Tomorrowland and risks having to stop the set 30 minutes early.

Matt Vitale shared a personal message to fans revealing that he had collapsed after a solo Tomorrowland performance. He turned to social media to let fans know what had happened.

Performing with stitches already in his spleen, Vitale explained that he almost had to stop his set half an hour early due to the pain he was enduring. Valiantly pushing through his discomfort, he finished the set and soon after walking off stage, collapsed. He made it clear he didn’t want to let the fans down by stopping early, so he decided the show must go on. “It was too important to stop for the ppl there in the crowd, and for the people watching from home.”

Fans flooded his post with heartfelt comments – expressing the love and support they had for his show, music, and of course, his health. This is a complete 180 from what is happening in the pop music world, between a certain feline and her fan base (losing 250K followers since Monday).

It’s common for people to have a misconception about tour life because of how it is perceived online. I know I am guilty of thinking the DJ life is easy when in reality, the job comes with a lot of burdens. It is often overlooked how much tour life can take its toll on the body and mind. Especially when there are sacrifices artists on the road are forced to make in order to connect with their fans.

Meduza Collapses Tomorrowland

The exhaustion that comes with being an artist on tour is perpetual. For example, after returning to Tomorrowland for Weekend 2, Meduza will make his way to America for Lollapalooza in Chicago. The next day he will fly back across Europe for Barrakud Festival in Croatia. Some people never get to travel to these locations and Meduza conquers them all in just three days.

Matt calls tour life “stressful” and “tough” especially being so far from family. It is a great team and supportive fans that make the job easier. He writes, “feel blessed to have fans like you, and where ill go i’ll do my best to not let you down.” Matt if you are reading this we love you, we support you, and we appreciate you. Thanks for making music that brings us all together. You can watch Meduza’s full set from Tomorrowland below and check out his tour dates for shows in your area!

My favorite thing in the whole world is music and after hearing "One" by Swedish House Mafia for the first time in 2014, I was hooked on EDM. Dance music has been a large part of who I am and will always be searching for new ways to incorporate it in my life. The pure bliss that I feel from live shows is a feeling I never want to stop chasing (iykyk). Some of my favorite artists are Flume, Rüfüs Du Sol, Mindchatter, Disclosure, Dom Dolla and Fred Again.. :)
