Las Vegas Welcomes New Venue MSG Sphere with Extraterrestrial Exosphere Lighting

Five years after announcing the project, the Sphere at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas is preparing to open in September, using 16K resolution LED screens outside the structure.

Over the last year, Sphere has displayed scenes to celebrate holidays, highlight artists, and worked with NASA and the NBA. On July 4, Sphere displayed its first complete light show, projecting the American flag and fireworks that could be seen from a few miles away. Sphere is set to break global records with the largest and highest-resolution LED screen inside.

The incredible 160,000-foot wraparound screen is accompanied by over 150,000 speakers around the venue and in the floorboards. Haptic technology, the use of motion and vibration, is included in half of the seats, and scent and wind will be used to create a 4D experience.

In the heart of Las Vegas, the 366-foot tall, eye-catching orb is lighting up with over 1 million lights. Utilizing mathematics to construct the building, the creators of Sphere determined what formulas would work to create its unique shape.

As a whole, the amazing sphere is drawing attendees to the venue with both its exterior and interior. Holding award shows, sporting events, and films along with concerts, Sphere is a multi-faceted place. Lovers of all art are set to be entranced by the venue.

Madison Square Garden Company is hosting residencies, opening Sphere with ‘U2: UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere’ on September 29. Director Darren Aronofsky’s ‘Postcards from Earth’ is playing in early October. A full list of events is on their official website

With nine levels, an almost-19,000 person capacity, and the title of being the largest spherical building globally, Sphere is set to be an immersive experience with programmable lighting and a series of different entertainment. Watch the unveiling of Sphere’s exosphere here:
