Oliver Heldens Shares Throwback Photo to Celebrate Official Call of Duty Anthem

A decade after dropping his first songs named after the Call of Duty rocket launchers, Oliver Heldens was recruited by the video game to create their official anthem.

Made to celebrate Call of Duty: Warzone Season 04 new map, Vondel, Oliver Heldens is acknowledging the incredible growth that he has made in his career. The DJ revealed that he went from playing his favorite video game – Call of Duty – to becoming a globally known producer in just ten years.

The single, appropriately titled, “Sound of Vondel,” builds anticipation from the start, channeling the game’s tension and excitement. The use of string instruments to compliment the contagious beat keeps listeners on the edge of their seats. Released on Spinnin Records, the DJ leans into a darker, techno sound.

“I’ve been playing Call of Duty since my early teenage years and I even named a bunch of my first officially released tracks in 2013 based upon inspiration from the iconic Modern Warfare 2 game. To collaborate with the Activision team and to create some truly authentic music as the official anthem for the new Vondel map in Warzone is a massive honor to me!,” Heldens wrote in the description for the video.

“Sound of Vondel” includes samples from Captain Price, an iconic character, intertwining fan-favorite parts of the game into the song. The audio experience of video games is one of the most important parts, drawing players deeper into the story.

The Dutch artist’s love for the game makes the anthem even more hard-hitting. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Heldens streamed himself and fellow DJs playing Call of Duty. Check out the game’s official website to find out where to purchase it.

The official anthem for Call of Duty: Warzone is now available on all streaming platforms. Watch the gameplay video for “Sound of Vondel” by Oliver Heldens here:
