Hotel Garuda and Manila Killa Launch New Techno Project CHROMEBODIES With Debut Single “REGENESIS”

HOTEL GARUDA AND MANILA KILLA COMBINE FORCES IN A NEW TECHNO PROJECT UNDER THE ALIAS “CHROMEBODIES” – STREAM THEIR NEW SINGLE “REGENESIS” NOW.

Chris Gavino, internationally known as Manila Killa, and Aseem Mangaokar who operates under the alias of Hotel Garuda, have reunited to launch their new techno-concentrated project called CHROMEBODIES. Although they have been friends since 7th grade, they didn’t start their joint music endeavors until reconnecting in college. At this time, Manilla Killa had been gaining some following on Soundcloud, which was a hub for melodic and tropical house remixes powered by the likes of Kygo and Louis the Child.

The pair started making music together in 2014, after releasing their remix of Disclosure’s “White Noise.” They started to see some engagement around the track after “Thissongissick” had reposted it to their page. It’s important to note that around the same time, Manilla Killas’ solo career was taking off credited to his remix of “All I Want” by Dawn Golden. 

The tandem pair split in 2018 after Manila Killa’s solo tour was in high demand. In his interview with Lauren Engel of Sidewalk Talks, Hotel Garuda talks about the challenges they faced: “When you’re a duo, people expect you to DJ as a duo.” Since Manilla Killa was doing his own tour, it was impossible for him to be in two places at once. “He’s not a magician” Garuda laughs when speaking about his friend.

Following the split, both Hotel Garuda and Manilla Killa were able to prioritize their solo music careers and grow their legacy in the dance community. Garuda explains that “the split was good for both of us to enjoy creative freedom.”

In late May, the two started a buzz around their social media after cryptically posting, “sweat season is coming.” This alluded to their decision to concentrate on punching techno beats and high BPMs for their new project. CHROMEBODIES gave their fans a taste of what to expect from the new project after dropping a techno twist of Nelly Furtado’s “Say It Right” on Soundcloud. They recently dropped their inaugural single “REGENESIS” which is now available to listen everywhere. It has been described as a “blistering hard techno offering revolving around galloping basslines, gurgling acid stabs, heavy vocal loops, and a spiraling melodic breakdown fueled by choir vocalizations and moody arpeggiations.” 

CHROMEBODIES is set to debut their new project in New York on August 19th at Louis the Child’s second annual Alter-Ego event at the Brooklyn Mirage. They will be joining a stacked roster of talented DJs and producers including upcoming UK phenomenon Taiki Nulight and recently solo Samir Ait Moh from Moksi.
