San Holo Redefines The Term EDM in Forthcoming Album

It’s time to get philosophical with San Holo as he explores EDM (see: Existential Dance Music) in his upcoming third studio album.

It’s not very often that an artist comes around who makes you want to contemplate life’s mysteries while also dancing until you can’t feel your feet. Good news for all of the existential ravers out there: Dutch DJ Sander van Dijck, better known as San Holo, is back with a new single (and upcoming album!) that will have listeners deliberating, dreaming, and dancing into oblivion.

San Holo took to Instagram last week to announce the forthcoming release of his third studio album this fall. Aptly named ‘Existential Dance Music,’ the innovative music producer is taking the EDM acronym and turning it on its head, successfully redefining the term in his own words.

“life is so existential by nature; we’re all looking for meaning in this world, and i’m fascinated by our personal journey of finding purpose,” he captioned the video post. “at the end of the day, we all wanna see the light and feel deeply connected to our true selves and the world around us; Existential Dance Music is all about this journey through life; our journey to light.”

In the same post, San Holo celebrated the release of ‘BRING BACK THE COLOR,’ the first single off the new album. The track, featuring writing and vocals by pop icon AURORA, uses sweeping melodies, catchy snare drum and synth beats, and uplifting lyrics to create the sense of hope and joy that has become a signature of San Holo’s work. As the artist himself explained, “‘BRING BACK THE COLOR’ is about yearning for vibrancy whenever your world gets darker.”

Fans immediately took to the comments to express their support for the DJ and excitement about the upcoming album. One user wrote, “i can’t wait to question my life again,” while another commented, “NEW SAN HOLO??? SCREAMING CRYING AND THROWING UP” – which pretty much sums up our feelings exactly.

To celebrate the release of ‘Existential Dance Music,’ San Holo is returning to Red Rocks Amphitheater to play a very special set. ‘San Holo Presents: Existential Dance Music’ will take place on October 11 and feature special guests Whethan, William Black, Rome in Silver, and OddKidOut. Tickets are on sale now.
