Woman Gives Birth 6 Weeks Early at EDC Las Vegas 2023

Eat, sleep, rave, give birth, repeat: EDM superfan goes into labor during Zedd’s set at EDC Las Vegas 2023.

29-year-old Cristina Celis gave a whole new meaning to the phrase “baby’s first rave” at EDC Las Vegas last weekend. The Santa Clarita, California native was enjoying the festival (as she’s done for the past five years) when something unexpected happened.

That unexpected something eventually turned into the birth of her firstborn child, whom she delivered safely at University Medical Center after being transferred there via ambulance early Sunday morning.

Celis and her boyfriend, Jonny Landon, named their child Izzabella Daisy Garcia, with the extra ‘Z’ in the first name honoring Zedd, whose set they were at when Celis started going into labor. In fact, the Russian-German DJ tweeted, “I heard someone gave birth at the stage DURING MY SHOW. Can someone pls help me find the person? I’d like to reach out!” Celis responded to the tweet with a photo of herself, Landon, and newborn Izzabella, captioning it, “It was me.”

Both fans and artists alike flocked to the comments to wish baby Izzabella well. Zedd replied, “CONGRATS!!!!! So happy you’re both healthy and that I had the honor to be the soundtrack.” Ray Volpe wrote, “major congrats to you two, this is so sweet.” Celis herself wrote about the experience in a series of tweets.

“Thank you @PasqueRotella was able to enjoy 1 1/2 days of @EDC_LasVegas. Went into early labor during @Zedd set on Saturday and had to leave. Had a beautiful baby girl. She’s a premie but is doing amazing. She wanted to have fun with us at the festival. Sad we are missing day 3 but super happy to have our baby girl safe happy and healthy with us.

“Thank you to the first aid team for all your help, you were all super helpful and caring. This was going to be our last EDC for the next couple of years. Can’t wait to show our little raver the ways lol. And can’t wait to take her to a show as soon as we can and know it is safe.”

Multiple outlets and accounts covered the story including TMZ, EDM.com, and even the local Las Vegas news station. @edm_maniac reported the news on Instagram, with fans taking to the comments to react. One user wrote, “That baby was literally born a raver fook yeah!” while another commented, “That’s one way to ring in Gemini season…talk about making an entrance.”

American DJ and record producer Ghastly wrote, “The baby said ‘d**n the party sounds lit out there I gotta check it out.’” Meanwhile, English dubstep producer FuntCase pretty much summed up how everyone felt about the situation: “Holy moly.”

Mother and child are both happy and healthy. One thing is for sure: This is most likely not the last time baby Izzabella will be attending EDC Las Vegas.
