Datsik “Revival” Show at Avalon Hollywood Cancelled Amidst Electronic Community Backlash

After a five-year absence, Datsik controversially attempts a live performance comeback following previous sexual abuse allegations.

It has been more five years since Datsik’s presence has touched a stage to perform. His last tour, the Ninja Tour in 2018, was overshadowed by alarming allegations of sexual abuse brought forth by multiple women. These allegations led to his cancellation from the community and his subsequent disappearance from the spotlight.

Days ago, the electronic community found itself in an uproar when the renowned Avalon Hollywood venue announced and promoted a Datsik show scheduled for June 10th. However, the excitement was short-lived, as “The Revival Show” faced an overwhelming wave of backlash online, prompting its swift cancellation a few days later.

Taking to Instagram, Datsik addressed his remaining fans, expressing his disappointment: “Unfortunately, circumstances beyond my control have led to the cancellation of the Avalon show.” However, he pointed out a “silver lining,” noting that tickets were nearly sold out.

It seems that this has inspired him to seek a different route and hinted at organizing an underground show with details to come. This decision stems from the fact that no reputable venue would risk its reputation by hosting Datsik, given the prevailing negative sentiments within the electronic music community.

In 2018, Datsik released a lengthy video statement addressing the allegations. However, he faced criticism for not fully acknowledging the gravity of the situation or offering a sincere apology. He was accused of taking advantage of intoxicated women on his tour bus and distributing signs that spelled “tulsa,” which formed the word “a sl*t” when viewed in a mirror. As a result of these allegations, Datsik’s agency and management company, Deckstar and Circle Talent Agency, ended their association with him.

Despite these setbacks, he has persisted in creating music and released a new album titled “Afterlife” in April. Whether Datsik can regain his standing in the industry remains uncertain. It seems that with or without a proper venue Datsik is forcing himself back into the scene, but his success will depend on people’s choice to support such an artist.

I’ve been with Exron since 2018 and have the privilege of contributing to the culture alongside other badass women whom I now call my friends. My introduction to the scene was first influenced by trap music, but my discography has since expanded to touch a bit of everything. Some of my favorite artists are Zeds Dead, Cloonee, Nghtmre, Flume, Infekt, Sosa, Bleu Clair, Subtronics, but the list goes on forever.
