Wreckno Claps Back at “Queerness and Hypersexuality” Controversy on Twitter

DJ, producer, and queer icon Wreckno responded to a Twitter user who made comments about his stage presence as it relates to his sexuality.

Brandon Wisniski aka Wreckno is not shy showing off his true colors. Fans might find him on stage dressing up in skirts, crazy patterns, or whatever funky pieces of clothing he feels comfortable in, really. He vividly allows his creative side to shine through both his music and sense of style.

However, being unapologetically himself seemed to offend one Twitter user this week. It all started when Wreckno made a post about Indy Pride. The DJ quoted his own tweet from back in 2018 manifesting that he would play Indy Pride the following year. The tweet included a video of Ariana Grande on stage with the caption, “Me if I get accepted to play Indy Pride next year [smiling hearts emoji].”

Five years later, he quoted that tweet with, “HAHAHAHAH WELL THIS AGED WELL CUZ IM HEADLINING THE EDM STAGE AT INDY PRIDE THIS YEAR [praying hands emoji].” Its clear Wreckno was simply celebrating this major win in his music career.

Although many fans came to his praise and congratulated Wreckno for manifesting his headlining gig at Indy Pride, one person responded in distaste. They wrote, “For the record, I am all for visibility for queer producers, but I don’t appreciate queerness and hypersexuality being sold as if they’re a package deal, it makes us look deviant to the general public.”

Wreckno didn’t just sit back and let that one slide. He quote tweeted the user, letting them how their opinion was uncalled for. The DJ said, “my queer existence isn’t here to please the general public? Worry about yourself.”

The DJ is not new to clapping back at haters on the internet and he’s not shy about living life as his authentic self. Wreckno will headline Indy Pride on June 10th in Indianapolis alongside DJ Deanne, DJ Annie D, and a few others.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
