Louis The Child Gives High Praise to Skrillex After Red Rocks Show

Louis the Child geeks out over Skrillex’s new Red Rocks set.

Louis the Child’s Robby recently took to Twitter to give high praise for his peer Skrillex. Internationally renowned DJ Skrillex is one of those artists that simply doesn’t fade. Although we’re no longer in the era of Scary Monsters and Evil Sprites, he’s shown a positive evolution marked by true technical and creative ability. From Jack Ü in 2013 to his performance with Fred Again in Times Square this year to his five-hour Red Rocks set from this weekend, he’s always got something interesting brewing. And the EDM industry gives credit where credit is due, per Louis the Child’s sportive example.

Via Twitter, Robby shared, “Went to the Skrillex 5-hour Red Rocks set last night. Here are some thoughts and feelings: First of all, the 5 hours really flew by. I thought there might be moments of disinterest or times where it felt like it was dragging, but he really kept it interesting the whole time. Moving through tons of different styles and changing tempo on a dime.”

Robby continued, citing specific examples and noteworthy points for praise. “It reminded me of seeing a band like Phish or The Dead, not literally in a music sense, but there’s a collective feeling in the crowd of being in it for the long haul. There [are] peaks and valleys throughout the show but you’re always locked in and anticipating what’s next. As someone who’s seen him many times over the years (and in a lot of different settings), I can say it was one of my favorite shows I’ve seen period. Unlike anything I’ve been to personally, and just utterly fun…”

As an end to his approbation, Robby shared a key reason for wanting to share commentary in the first place. “Anyway, [I] just wanted to geek out for a second because in the end all of us artists are still fans. We still appreciate the work of our peers, and I don’t geek out about this stuff enough on here. Hope you all have a great day. Ok, also the man never went to the bathroom (for those of you wondering).”

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
