John Summit Threatens Legal Action as Companies Unrightfully Use his “Benders” Slogan

Last year John Summit made one joke on Twitter that continues to haunt him to this day.

On September 17th, 2022, John Summit jokingly tweeted “benders keep you hot and skinny,” which has since been picked up by companies for profit. They have created hats, shirts, and hoodies with the quote and are actively using Summit’s name to promote sales.

Summit has made it clear that he does not endorse this and has asked companies to stop capitalizing on his joke. In a tweet, he stated, “I’ve never made any ‘benders keep u hot & skinny’ merch, so all the people capitalizing off a joke I made can you please stop and try being original, lmao.” He also referred to the situation as “cringe” and expressed that he is seeking legal advice on the matter.

Although the original tweet received backlash from people who believed he was promoting an unhealthy lifestyle, the issue lost some of its intensity as Summit’s online personality became more familiar to his fanbase. Several fans commented to ask his opinion on fan-made merch, which he approved as okay to wear but made it very clear he has never once used this quote on his own merchandise.

However, there are still numerous accounts promoting apparel with the quote and Summit has expressed his frustration and distaste for how out of hand the situation has gotten. Once was a joke, has indeed become a negative connotation tied to his identity.

In other news, John Summit continues to shine wrapping an incredible 2-day Off The Grid camping event at The Caverns in Tennessee. The show completely sold-out packing 1200 lucky fans at an iconic venue that does not typically see electronic music acts let alone house/techno artists.

This summer John Summit is booked and busy bringing his sound to festivals and venues including Breakaway, Red Rocks, Seismic, Hangout, Movement, Brooklyn Mirage, Hard Summer, Elements, and the list goes on. Click here to purchase tickets and view the full list of upcoming shows this year.
