ZHU Teases New Music with Sultry Video

The American electronic music producer behind deep house hits ‘Faded’ and ‘Working for It’ is back at it again with new music.

Is there anything ZHU, the multi-talented DJ, singer, songwriter, and musician, can’t do? When it comes to creating new and innovative twists on electronic music, the answer is a resounding ‘no.’ On Instagram this week, the accomplished producer posted a sultry video, teasing new music in the background much to the delight of fans and friends alike.

The video opens with female models in lingerie walking through a backlit walk-in closet while an ethereal track with heavy bass plays in the background. The camera continues to pan as a musical transition takes place, showcasing more women and clothing in ZHU’s signature black, gray, and red color palette. A second track teaser begins as the camera pans to ZHU himself in the walk-in closet, backlit in red this time as the camera spins psychedelically.

The new music is distinctly ZHU: A mix of deep house, sultry R&B, and trap baselines when joined together, create breathtaking crescendos and heartstopping drops. The audio is reminiscent of The Weeknd’s earlier style (think ‘Trilogy’ era) yet with a heavier emphasis on electronic musicality.

The video’s caption, which reads, ‘Grace is given to those who have patience,’ alludes to new music on the way, perhaps in the form of an EP or even a full-length album. Besides a remix of Genesis Owusu’s track ‘Get Inspired,’ ZHU has yet to release anything in 2023, leaving fans hungry for new music.

Users took to the comments, begging ZHU to drop the music and tour in their respective cities and countries. His last drop, ‘Musical Chairs Mixtape (Vol. 1),’ was released in the summer of 2022 and included a two-night stint at Red Rocks Amphitheatre

ZHU first rose to prominence with his 2014 EP ‘THE NIGHTDAY’ featuring the single ‘Faded,’ which reached #12 on the US Dance/Electronic Chart and was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording. His 2015 EP ‘Genesis Series’ featured some key players in the electronic music game, including A-Trak, Skrillex, and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony.

While new music on the way has fans speculating about a possible upcoming tour, ZHU is already confirmed to be on the festival circuit, playing Lightning in a Bottle in California, Dirtybird CampINN in Orlando, Colours of Ostrava in the Czech Republic, Audioriver Festival in Poland, and Bumbershoot in Seattle.
