Ticketmaster Reclaims Pretty Lights Tickets From Scalpers

The ticketing company handling some sales for Pretty Lights’ comeback tour sent out an email confirming that they are reclaiming tickets from scalpers by canceling tickets that were bought on resale. 

The ticket reselling business has caused an uproar in the music community lately. More recently, many fans were unable to secure tickets to Skrillex’s Red Rocks show due to the event selling out in seconds, seemingly due to scalpers. The event’s promoter, AEG responded by reclaiming a number of those tickets from buyers and making them available to real fans via a raffle system.

Not long after the Skrillex ticket débâcle, many fans reported a similar experience when attempting to purchase tickets for a number of stops on Pretty Lights’ Soundship Spacesystem tour. Even after two pre-sales and a general on-sale, many legitimate fans noted it was “impossible” to get a ticket. 

Someone even shared a report to Reddit showing which ticket resellers purchased the most significant number of tickets for the event. Among those companies were “Drews Tickets Inc.” and “Casey Tickets.”

The situation called on Ticketmaster, promoters, and even Pretty Lights himself to take action and ensure fans pay fair prices to see their favorite artists. After nearly a month since Pretty Lights’ Soundship Spacesystem tour was announced and tickets went on sale, some noticed Ticketmaster had taken action.

An email was sent out to someone who apparently purchased a ticket from a third party through Ticketmaster. The message state, “The tickets you received via transfer were acquired by a buyer who violated Ticketmaster’s Terms of Use to purchase these tickets. As such, your tickets have been canceled.” Following that were details of the show: Pretty Lights at The Salt Shed on October 21st. This is in reference to one of the Chicago stops on his Soundship Spacesystem tour. 

Although most see reclaiming tickets from scalpers as a step in the right direction, some fans were understandably upset after losing their tickets to the event. At this point, it’s not clear when those scrubbed tickets will be placed back on sale, and who will have access to them.
